With all due respect, this post shows you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Firstly, the judge was very clear when he stated the MP was acting as a peace officer, therefore regardless of her rank, she was dealing with a peace officer conducting his duties.
Secondly, just because she...
Here's my issue with this...the MP was tasked to investigate (stemming from I I believe a 911 call).....at this point it is not up to a "senior officer in the CAF" who does or does not have investigational jurisdiction...that MP had a legal obligation to investigate. For the major to walk out...
Your point being what? I never said the MP acted professionally......but obviously he did not step outside the boundaries of the law and his decision to recommend charges was correct as was demonstrated by the Major being found guilty.
No a person does not need to be detained or under arrest for a police officer to use force. It's quite common for me to be called to the bar/residence/wherever and forcefully remove an unwanted person. As soon as they are out the door if they settle down they are normally free to go at that...
I'm sure he doesn't.....while I'm not disputing whether or not the MP was in the right or wrong as I wasn't there....I will dispute his claim the MP was not qualified to investigate. MPs are the police....police investigate crimes, and nobody save for a higher ranking police officer, tells a...
She was equally out of line and frankly I'd expect a bit more maturity from a major.
As for the MP not being qualified to investigate......so you decide what police officers are qualified to investigate what?
Back on track....if she was the most qualified for the promotion then well done to...
I'll throw my two cents in as I can speak from experience of having served in the combat arms and am now currently in policing.
The reality in this line of work is that it is incredibly difficult to get hired into. In saying that, I recommend you pick a trade you can see yourself doing for a...
Interestingly enough.....I'm a cop and while not taught to necessarily double tap.....our shooting drills are never one shot. So while not explicitly being taught to double tap, we essentially are through muscle memory.
Further, the guy you told to stay in his lanes has (from what I've been...
I think the question here would be how could he not be removed from his position? As a CO, one of his duties is to lay charges within his battalion where he deems appropriate. NIS do not always investigate sexual assaults; "minor" sex assaults (hate to use the word minor as its not minor to...
I worked with MANY guys who joined the military and fully planned to make a career out of it.....only like 2 are still around. While it's great you have a career in mind, be advised that the military is not something you can say you'll enjoy for 30 years until you've tried it. Movies...
Here's the reality of the CF that recruiters won't tell you. You are only one serious injury or illness away from finding yourself unemployed.
The CF will still be going strong in a few years and they will still be hiring.
Get yourself an education
Piece of advice there Blueangels....
I see you're not a member of the CF yet, however your avatar (or whatever it's called) pic is that of the PPCLI cap badge.
Whether or not it's your intention, it gives off the impression that you're a member of the regiment. Although you may aspire to be...
Speaking as a police officer......it absolutely boggles my mind that the MP higher ups have never actually been police officers, or done the job of a police officer.
Astonishing really.
A hospital isn't going to give ANY form of info on when the member might get released to anyone without his consent. You'll be hard pressed to even have them verify the member is a patient.
This BOI can point out the unit didn't get info from the hospital all it wants...it won't change...
While I don't disagree with you....there are still legal issues. A doctor signed off on the individual that he was fine. I wasn't there, but he clearly wasn't arrested, and I assume had done nothing wrong other than make some sort of indication he may commit self harm (not illegal). What...
When we (the police) transport an individual to the hospital under the mental health act; once the doctor takes "possession" for lack of a better term of the individual....we leave as we no longer have anything to do with the process and can't exactly sit around for up to 72 hours.
If a doctor...
