I didn't need one for England. I did need one for Wales though. ;D
Anyway, I think it was due to how recent it was (within the past five years or something like that). Some of the CFRC staff seemed to think I wouldn't need one until they saw that I had gotten back from there less than a year ago.
My file was sent for presec a bit less than two weeks ago after the frustrating process of getting a UK Police check. I've pretty much given up all hope of making it into a summer reserve BMQ course, unless someone in Ottawa performs some minor miracles. Yeah yeah, "hurry up and wait" and all...
That's a cute story but unfortunately I'm pretty sure "sir" comes from the Old French "sieur" (Lord). ;D
To add to the discussion this is why I'm initially applying for an NCM position. I'll have all the time in the world to sit in an office when I'm older and more decrepit.
Ha, I'm also going tomorrow morning. You wouldn't be in Toronto would you?
I think the big thing is not to get overconfident and to focus. I've messed up tests on things I know perfectly well simply due to being preoccupied or bringing in external baggage.
Were you given a set of paper forms to fill in, in addition to the online form?
When I filled in the paper forms I made an appointment to physically hand them in to my recruiter (along with ID, birth certificate, transcript etc). The recruiter told me that the reliability screening would be...
I dunno, but I think opposition to a terrible thing doesn't necessarily justify doing terrible things yourself. Martin Luther King Junior IMHO is more of a hero in that he managed to accomplish what he did without ever endorsing violence.
That might seem weird coming from a guy who is applying...
Well, for all he accomplished against the practice of Apartheid, he was involved in political violence and bombings back in the 60s, so I wouldn't call him a spotless saint.
I'm pretty sure this Thucydides person is a liberal (a classical liberal) so I'm kind of confused about this so-called "true conservatism" he espouses. Most people in this thread are simply arguing over (and trying to define) different forms of liberalism (classical vs. modern). The CPC and the...
Is this for real?
This guy must be a troll or a joker, trying to stir the pot. I refuse to believe otherwise. He's taken every single stereotypical cartoon conspiracy theorist line and used it. In my regrettable experiences with real kooks, they usually follow one or two conspiracies and...
I'm in a similar situation, there's a BMQ in January but I'll have to really luck out to make it in time, plus my recruiter warned me that my year living outside of Canada will slow down the process. On the bright side, at least that means more time to prepare and get in tip-top shape.
