    Wanted 2" Olive Velcro

Anyone have any 2" olive velcro they're willing to part with? Only need the fuzzy side, only need a 6 inches, can't find it for sale anywhere in small quantities.

Virtual reality training of ship’s power generation and distribution system

Virtual training and videos sound awesome... I've got a question this part though... can totally simulate any of it in a classroom, it's just more expensive.

Soldier Operational Clothing and Equipment Modernization

Which item? The combat uniform itself isn't fire retardant... but its probably less "melty" and flammable than the issued underwear, long johns, fleece, goretex, polyester blend t-shirts and every other item issued... Not really anything you'd ever want to be exposed to a fire while...

Soldier Operational Clothing and Equipment Modernization

Maybe, but I work in the private world, no longer a military member... I promise, if there's a way to save money, they've considered it, so its cheaper and more effective to replace than to repair, and we don't suffer from shortages... Specifically, that's in reference to fire retardant...

Soldier Operational Clothing and Equipment Modernization

Sarcasm and pork-barrelling aside, there's several Canadian manufacturers making them and other good quality FR clothing. Suppliers are only going to bid and supply what the customer specs and buys. Same problem comes up over and over again in Canadian procurement, reinventing the wheel and...

Soldier Operational Clothing and Equipment Modernization

Are NCDs nomex or treated cotton or a treated/cotton synthetic blend? Very few in the civillian world still wearing straight nomex any more, I've got a few pieces of cold weather gear in nomex, but that's it. Treated cotton coveralls are the cheapest, but not usually too durable. There's...

Soldier Operational Clothing and Equipment Modernization

It happens, I work in a industrial environment, on a ship, and realistically, a pair of coveralls lasts me 6-8 weeks. Sometimes they last me longer but usually for me, the pockets are getting pretty shredded after 8 weeks regardless. That's flame retardant coveralls, they're usually $120, the...

Soldier Operational Clothing and Equipment Modernization

Personally I like mine baggy in the crotch, gives me more freedom of movement and my pockets are usually filled with tools anyway... North American coverall sizes are usually pretty good for most North American males, not always so good for North American females. That's standard sized...

Soldier Operational Clothing and Equipment Modernization

It boggles me that the navy won't embrace coveralls, that's what we do in the civilian sailing world and it's definitely the way to go... Cheap, easy to carry an assortment of spares on board, available in flame retardant (and you get full body coverage for that purpose), and utilitarian.

Oceanic tug & rescue vessel. A good option for production gaps?

Looks similar on the outside but Anticosti started life as a platform supply vessel (PSV). No towing capability and not much bollard pull. Most anchor handling tugs  (AHT) are also supply (AHTS), lot more bollard pull, and will have a towing winch+shark jaws fitted. It's funny to see her...

What have you taken away from your time in the reserves?

As of late... I learned everything I needed to know about parenting as an NCO in the reserves. A recruit course in an reserve infantry regiment is basically the same as raising toddlers... Remaining patient after several days without sleep while everyone around you is doing apparently random...

"Canadian Tank Crew Members Praise Soviet T-72 Battle Tank"

If it's a post from CGN, it's probably only a partial quote, may be taken out of context... the original likely included the word "libtard" and expressed the posters distaste towards lowballers.

    Private courses for civilians?

I'm sure you could find someone willing to teach you a section attack for a very reasonable rate. Must supply own lone soldier at base of tree.

    Fastex Clips

Perfect! Didn't even think of them, they've got everything I want though. Everything I found locally (walmart and a fabric store) was pure junk.

    Fastex Clips

Anyone have a suggestion where I can buy decent quality fastex clips/buckles in Canada? CP Gear used to sell them but they don't seem to any more. Can find them in the states but shipping is usually excessive.

Free Mandarin buffet for Canadian citizens called a violation of human rights

My wife has adopted my habit of referring to shopping at costco as "making an assault". Speed and aggression.

Free Mandarin buffet for Canadian citizens called a violation of human rights

How little do these people value their time??? A normal meal costs max $30 after taxes, less for lunch.

    Controversial vehicle - upsets residents

Does it though? Couldn't either be effective? Or both be effective? I took my (young) kids for a stroll in a park a few weeks ago. In that park, there's a rather large howitzer, and we decided it was a good place to sit down, eat ice cream and pick dandelions. While were there, they asked...
