I did my BMQ from Oct to Jan, and my SQ immediately after in Feb to May, then my DP1 in July to Aug (although they also run DP1's June to July).
For now worry about getting through BMQ.
Yeah and if I were you I'd use this time to read up threads on what to bring to BMQ, and talk to people who have done it before you if you can. I recommend a good pair of running shoes, a pair of combination locks for the duffel bags you will be issued. But there is a bunch of other stuff you...
Yeah I got a little bit of flak for my questions, but at least some people had something constructive to say. I've been on the receiving end of both sites though, sometimes warranted, and sometimes not. I think most of the time it's miscommunication, but there are always those cases of the...
I do not know how it works out West, but here in Ontario at my Reserve unit we come back from stand down on Sept 4th. Also, our BMQ courses are held at the start of October.
You have been sworn in already right?
Thank you all for the information. Canadian.Trucker, I guess the reason why I want the OPP is because I figured the scope of the detective and specialized work etc. would be greater than that of a normal city policeman. Although mariomike makes a good point when he suggests that other police...
Hey there,
I realize perhaps this is not the best forum for asking these questions, but I assume some of you may know the answers I am looking for. I just have a couple specific questions regarding the service. So I am going into my last year of University and although I will probably do grad...
Yeah I was only looking to see if once my name goes in a hat it is not like some binding contract to take any position given, but rather an opportunity to decide whether or not the eligible tours are right for me. I know that once I sign a contract I will be completely committed to the tour, I...
Thanks for the help. Just to confirm, if my name is placed in the "I wanna go on tour" list, there is no chance I can reject an offer if I am accepted?
Thank you for the replies - just to make sure, if I put my name on the list am I obligated to take any position I am suited for, or will I have a choice to take a certain position, or to reject all positions?
Hi there,
So I finished my DP1 this summer and I looking at doing my DP2A and some other courses this year, if available etc. Anyway, I have been curious about the process to getting on a tour. I do not want to ask my regiment right away because I am a brand new Pte. and they probably think i'm...
Ah I think it was actually Kate Nesbitt that CDN Aviator was referring to. http://www.webcitation.org/5lbgJIxS8
Actually just to edit, you were probably just giving another example of a woman's meritorious actions - my mistake!
I am sorry for mistaking you for a guy, I just assumed you were one without doing any checks. Anyway, to kind of tack on to a bunch of other posts here, I find that oftentimes it is not the person who is most out of shape that gets 'harassed' or singled out, it is the person who tries the least...
If you could not walk with simply a tac vest for 45 seconds then I am seriously worried about your health. Sorry to be a jerk, but you're a young guy...and yeah. Also, you have severely neglected PT before you joined the army, which was a terrible mistake. Aside from this, you have the right...
Perhaps join the reserves and see if the military really is for you. Other then that, you can join a variety of other Officer positions with your arts degree - specifically the combat arms. However, I am not sure if your speech impediment or colourblindness will allow this [allow I am no MD]...
I was in my 3rd year of a combined honours program in two liberal arts majors, and I joined the reserves last summer. I did BMQ through September to January of this year, and SQ from February to the end of the May [your trade training, known as DP1 or QL3 occurs in the summer]. Basically I had...
From my experience as a reserve infantryman, I have a big enough grasp of my job to know that a lot of work is the norm in my trade. It is true that I am still waiting to do DP1 in July, but from what I hear of my friends who are going through the June course, a lot of the stuff from BMQ-L...
