No jobs in the army, need advice.

You should rethink your decision to become an infantryman, or perhaps even joining any trade in the CF, if you think the Navy will be too much work.

CFAT Issue, Planning on joining Reserves

I joined the infantry and I did absolutely terrible on the spatial reasoning portion of the test - but I am pretty sure my other sections made up for it. I was not used to the spatial reasoning and did not prepare much for that part, so I found it a lot harder than perhaps it needed to be -...

    The Recruitment Process --- Question

    A) no. B) you have to do a CFAT which is an aptitude test that determines what trades you are suitable for. Basic training only begins once you already have your trade picked. Do more research on the life of people in the navy and those in the military, as there are big differences. Then do...

What to bring to the Field- Tips and Tricks

The new ice coat [or at least sort of new since I just joined the past year] has a zipper on it which you can use to stuff the coat inside itself and create the same type of pillow...I'm not sure if the new rain jacket has the same capability, too lazy to check. Anyway if all else fails I just...

    Reserve NCM to Reserve Officer

    Very informative, thank you Globemaster.

    Reserve NCM to Reserve Officer

Just out of curiosity, say for example my BMQ wrote off some portions of BMOQ-L. Would I then have to be put on a BMOQ-L course and then only show up for the stuff that I would have missed, or would something else be done through my regiment where perhaps an officer would train me on parade nights?

Work Full time, Basic Training Days

I can attest to this. I did BMQ on weekends and that was 10 weekends total, and the BMQ-Land is 11. Like Bomber for Life noted, my DP1 will be a full month in the summer, but most subsequent courses I can choose to do will be offered on weekends. If you can get a month away from work in the...

    Reserve NCM to Reserve Officer

Thank you, I am sure I will need it if ever I get a commission. If anyone else has anything helpful to add please let me know!

    Reserve NCM to Reserve Officer

Yeah I would be fine and willing to do the extra officer training one needs to do after basic.  But the thought of going through another basic training, be it BMQ or BMOQ, is disconcerting. Saw your edit....I understand now a bit better.

    Reserve NCM to Reserve Officer

Yes... I am saying that my 2LT did not go on a BMOQ, he was put onto a BMQ course, and this was someone who was most likely a DEO. Using logical reasoning I would assume that maybe then my BMQ course would carry over upon switching to officer and negate the need to do a BMOQ, considering a new...

    Reserve NCM to Reserve Officer

Really, BMQ would not count for BMOQ? I find that strange because the 2LT on my course was put on a BMQ course and not a BMOQ course [and I am assuming he was DEO]. I would like to stay within the reserve system though so I would not need a CT. But, how would one go about getting an OT?

    Reserve NCM to Reserve Officer

I posted this in another thread, but I felt like maybe this deserved its own..I accept whatever negative milpoints come my way. Anyway, I will be completing my degree in May of next year, and in the mean time I expect to be a Pte. at my local infantry reserve unit [barring this summer's DP1...

    C9 short barrel with BFA

I do not have any of the directives or policies regarding this issue, but last weekend our short barrels were taken away from us when we were firing blanks for this exact reason. We actually did a few section attacks with the short barrels and BFA's on, and the one thing I noticed was a ton of...

Different paths for becoming an officer

Hey everyone...I will be completing my degree in May of next year, and in the mean time I expect to be a Pte. at my local infantry reserve unit [barring this summer's DP1 goes as planned]. How would I go about becoming an officer in my unit once my degree is completed? I was told in the past...

Military private charged in Nanaimo restaurant heist - 6 Apr 2012

Such is the nature of the military - it is always a key focal point in the media. I also think that if this guy was a lawyer, doctor, teacher, [or a variety of other occupations where one should be a respectable person setting examples for others], they would have mentioned his career in the...

    Tax us more, doctors urge

I would argue that not every rich person earned his way into the top of the economic hierarchy - a great many are born into it, through having the right connections or a healthy inheritance. Even if this wasn't the case, why would they worry about being taxed more than the poor - they already...

BF deployed, got posting message for USA. Help!

Also I'm not really one to talk about relationships, but I'm relatively sure getting married on an ultimatum is not the best idea. Perhaps RemembranceDay is right; maybe you should try a long-distance relationship. His posting will eventually end and if you were really ready to get married then...
