Well if it turns out that I will be on PAT troop for a very extended period of time, than I have no trouble paying for a Uhaul truck and trailer and taking a week of leave to drive that puppy from Edmonton to Moncton. Even if the government approves to pay for it or not.
Well currently we live in Edmonton, and the only way she would be in moncton is if she quits her job and lives with my sister is moncton. But than there is the issue of keeping all our stuff in Edmonton is our townhouse. And if she can't find a job in moncton than we can afford to keep our stuff...
The wife is upset that the recruiters or file managers never mentioned the fact that I could be waiting a long time to get on course. She was under the impression that I would be on course right away.
Now she's scared about being alone ( she's never lived by herself before). I feel terrible and...
Well I'm in Edmonton at the moment. For a 2 way trip is over 900 bucks. I just want a good solution to being across the country for about a year and still having a decent relationship life with my wife.
Hard to buy a house when you don't have money for a down payment. Not to mention being financial responsible for anything that goes wrong. I would probably live in a PMQ for 1-2 years to save up a decent nest egg for a down payment and a reserve for house repairs.
I would try and search this but can think of on how to search it. I've been talking to some people that are at gagetown for artillery school about how long I will be there. They said expect to be there for a year or more. Now I understand they won't move my wife till I get my first posting and...
Well I sure hope this isn't happening! I start on sept 13 in Borden. I haven't received any papers or exact date for enrolment, but I talked to my file manager and she said that I'll get all that at the end of July because enrolments can change dates.
That's a solid amount of information thanks.
But a year away from my wife right at the start sounds like a lot. Any suggestions as how to deal with that?
Or is she pretty much stuck at home and never see me for a year?
I've tried searching on this site and forum for definitive answers as to what training happens up too the first posting. I haven't gotten a real answer, but variations. I've also tried talking to a recruiter online and still the answer I got is different.
So any Field Artillery guys that could...
I read "FOB DOC" just last month, absolute great read. I'm now currently reading General Rick Hillier's book "Soldier First", also a great read so far.
I've read through this thread already but still seemed confused.
Granted this thread is over a span of 8 years, but it seems like SQ is being referred to 3 different things and names. Also I've seem about 3 different lengths of time on how long it lasts. So I guess I can ask a generalized...
I just did a self evaluation today just to minimum just to make sure I meet minimums.
Push ups - I did up to 25. My understanding reading the guidelines, the elbows do not have to stay tucked to your sides during the motions, just as long as your hands point forwards at all times.
Sit ups - I...
My BMQ is dated for Sept 13, so I should be done by Dec 16. But if things happen (hopefully not), that I get recourse and have to go past Christmas.
Do they give the holiday off during BMQ?
If they do give the holiday off, do they pay to fly you home and back or do you have to do that at your...
The site has a search option, this will help you find all the answers to your questions. Also look at forces.ca for more information, and watch the basic up reloaded videos to get info on BMQ.
