    Wow...for once I agree with something the NDP is saying [ATM's}

As much as I hate service charges - and I think they are nothing more then a rip-off, to be polite - I have to agree with Hauptmann Scharlachrot. Mind you, if  it happens the charges are banned, I'm not crying for the banks. As has been stated, the Banks make the bulk of their bucks elsewhere...

    MD: CF's drug needs different

Your lane is a lot closer than my lane, so I'm glad you posted your experience. Good stuff.

    MD: CF's drug needs different

If memory serves (and it might not  ;) ) Gov't drug plans are administered by Blue Cross or similar. It is a form of insurance, and like other forms of insurance they base fee's on the amount of coverage, not the actual drug usage. Less coverage = less cost, like any insurance policy. My...

Monthly Pay after deductions - Questions [Merged]

Hey, thanks for that, but as I posted the gross amount is easy to find, I'm trying to get a sense of what I'll clear on a paycheque after deductions. Just trying to make sure the bills will be covered while I'm off for 3 months.

Monthly Pay after deductions - Questions [Merged]

Naval Reserve and Air Reserve  do a reg force equivalent IAP/BOTC rather then the compressed militia BMQ.

Monthly Pay after deductions - Questions [Merged]

Hi all, looks like I just might finally get through the re-enlistment process and go off to basic this spring. I'm planning my finances, and a search hasn't given me this answer: What is the net pay for a NavRes N/CDT during IAP/BOTC? It's easy enough to find out the gross pay, but I need to...

    When will we stop digging?

RHFC_piper, that's outstanding. I think your experiment was a great idea!

    When will we stop digging?

There's hope. I have met this attitude from Univ. and College and high school students. Protest is the turf of the young university type and it has been for ages. Give 'em time and some maturing. I work in a left-leaning, social service agency in management. The type of place that some...

    Afganida

I only heard about 10 minutes of it last week, been meaning to post about it. What I heard sounded interesting. I'm sure some of the details will be way off and there'll be dramatic licence taken as it's a play, after all. Did you find it portrayed the CF in a good light?

    Canadian Military Slang

There an old thread chock full of slang expressions here: http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/930.0.html

Medic Trade: What Does it Look Like Now For New Entrants?

Wow. :o  I struggled with losing 40 lbs, you've got my respect. That's an achievement! And that kind of perseverance can serve you well in the CF. I hope your enlistment is smooth sailing, and good luck in your new trade!

Should the Canadian Coast Guard be armed?

Seems like they do a fair bit of stuff, including being a primary training vessel for new Mars types, route surveys, SovPats, SAR patrols, etc. It's been discussed a few times. See this thread: http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/23040.0.html

Should the Canadian Coast Guard be armed?

Is this not what the Naval Reserve is already doing? They do crew several vessels 24/7, year round. I'm not saying the idea is do-able or not, and I have heard manning issues are problematic for MCDV's (and the rest of the fleet too, from what I read here). Merely pointing out  that having...

Wearing Of Foreign Wings On CF's

Whups. Completely missed that others had posts and links to similar orgs in my half-asleep skim through the thread. Next time I'll drink my morning coffee before I go online. Those Walter Mitty-esque groups of Journeyman's are just a little creepy.

Wearing Of Foreign Wings On CF's

If you aren't aware of it, there are several nations that allow military jumpers to take their courses or jump with them in some way. Except for the Dutch and the Polish, they want the person to already have a basic para qual. So you can use those courses to open the door to other opportunities...

The Military is Inapropriate for Christmas Parade

Coming back to the topic for a minute: I saw nothing that suggests the Orillia paper was against the military in the parade. Sounds like they support the CF. The few critical letters I read seemed to react to "the tank" not the CF involvement. So the thread title is somewhat misleading. For...

The media takes up our quarrel, on behalf of the foe.

Unfortunately, I believe you are right. What I do not believe is that it is deliberate rather it is the default of their style of reporting. My (completely unresearched) gut belief is this is based loosely on the "if it bleeds it leads" way of reporting news. In this case, if it is "anti-", it...

American Exiled to Canada for Sex Offenses

I agree there are much bigger buttholes to run down...totally agree with the "I hate politics" part. But it is political - it's less about the guy and more about the message.

    Taliban Refuses Peace Talks

My take? No, not until something actually happens here. It's still all too far away for the average Canuck. But, should an attack happen, the gen. pop. will likely blame the CF and Gov't for "creating" the situation by getting involved in "Bush's imperialist war" and staying in AFG. rather than...
