Well I want to thank everybody in this thread, you have given me a better insight in the 3 operators trade, so my choice is pretty much done and set for NES op. I just hope I can make it back in the regular forces before they amalgate the operators trade

You could also read the paper in the thread "Is the US Navy overrated", it's a real moral booster for the canadian forces and also the other small navies around the world.

In victoria it sure doenst cover the mortgage, the allowance after taxes is roughly 300$ if im not wrong. My studio apt was 545$. A condo with all the various fees will not cost you under 1000$ per month PLD sure helps but it's not meant to cover mortgage

as long as you live on the base you will not be eligible for PLD, it's only once you'll get your own private accomodation, then you need to apply for it, if you are living with someone else that's from the military both your PLD will be slightly reduce

well long story short I was only planning to do my IE back then, so I didnt see much perspective as a comm rsch in that time span except for listening to morse code, which was really driving me nuts. Switch to RMS to get a posting out west.

did the comm rsch QL3 until the last 2 weeks, then remustered to RMS (big mistake don't ask why)

sorry was really late when I posted the reply, but a year is the QL3 duration and you listen to morse code almost everyday during that time, contrary to navcomm they don't send morse code, they listen to it.

I don't think the two (275 and 291) really can relate that much to each other, 291 is more sigint, as in interception capabilities and direction finding, hell they spend over a year learning morse code....

blahh it's easy to figure out most of the stuff and capability, and well also real expectation. cause even if theoricly any radio wave or communication can be picked up, you still have to localize the one you want, scrap all the unwanted bullshit, then translate whatever you picked up, figure...

well NES op seems far more interesting, the more varied part sounds like a good thing to me. But from the description from the website and what the recruiting office the two trades seemed to be very alike. NCI ops also perform seamanship duties ?
