Hey Milerup,
I completely understand. In fact, I believe recruiting should allow for greater transparency in terms of letting applicants know where they stand, considering that those who made the List but are bottom ranked may never get a job offer. Therefore, it's often best that they focus on...
Hey all,
Like many of you, I have been stuck in the waiting games for a while now (see my signature for my application timeline). I try to take trips to my local recruiting center (Toronto) on a regular basis to keep tabs on my application and gather fresh info if available. Recently, a number...
Best to check with your local Recruitment Center. The more senior members on this forum can't access the 'recruits only' postings so you won't get their input.
I did some travelling in Jan and Feb while I was competition listed and checked with a recruiter and he said it was fine. My...
Thank you Milerup.
Took a trip to the local RC today and inquired about the changes made to Direct Entry being closed to many officer occupations (including the Combat 3) on the CAF Jobs webpage. The recruiter confirms your line of reasoning: there are more than enough applicants sitting on the...
Thank you Ocean for your prompt response. That's very disappointing news indeed for all the Anglophones still out there waiting.
Congrats btw on your offer.
Edit: When and how did they manage to load so many on the Aug and Sept serials already? We are not even two month into the new fiscal...
That's massive news. OceanBonfire, where did you get your info? After waiting for so long I don't even know what to believe anymore. Looks like I will need to head to the local RC to clear some things up (considering that all my trades are combats).
They'll probably contact you to book appointments. Contact your recruitment center right away though, as doing so will likely speed up the process regardless.
Unfortunately the wait time is quite normal. How long you have to wait depends on which trades you are applying for and how competitive you are. You can get an offer anytime from now, or maybe never.
The next step for you is to get on the Competition List, which means you have met all the...
The verbal section is not easy, nor is it meant to be. They don't expect everybody to even finish, let alone get them all right.
Having said, the words that appear on the test are real, and are not meant to be "impossible" at all. It's meant to test your vocabulary, and there are no trick...
That's fair enough. In that case I will concede that my sentence was redundant. It's not factually incorrect, however, as I simply said that for DEO applicants a Bachelor's will not make one stand out.
I was just trying to help the OP (Waningcrows) by giving him some personal advice that I...
Hi Buck, as always thank you again for your insights. Do you happen to know the next projected selection dates (which I assume would be the first round of selections for the 18/19 FY) for Infantry, Armour and Artillery DEO?
I know you mentioned you won't be positing specific dates, but you...
OP is taking the officer route, and in addressing his question I was specifically referring to DEO applications. Considering that all direct entry occupations require a university degree as a prerequisite, having only a Bachelor's certainly won't make you stand out from the crowd.
Hey man, I'm happy to chip in with some of my experiences in the process. Please note that I'm just another humble applicant, much like yourself, so some informal suggestions is all I can give ya.
I also did my CFAT back in 2016, scored "very high" (I feel those words are being thrown out...
Yes you can be competition listed simultaneously for 3 trades. In fact, I don't think you can be put on the competition list for only some of your trades, because when I added Armour and Artillery to my original first choice (Infantry) I was taken off and put back on again when I was approved...
What Milerup says is plausible, but sounds really drastic. I mean, cutting down 2 BMOQ serials represents a considerable loss of officers at a time when CAF is supposedly growing to meet new needs. Plus why not just delete these serials instead of plastering them online for all to see if they...
