I‘m quivering in excitement.... but I‘m going to hold off with the celebrations until we actually see them deployed. Still.. hopeful news... :D

    PRes Officers...

In the toronto area, if there aren‘t enough officers to run a complete platoon, they can be merged into a split NCM/Officer platoon. It happens, it happened to me. During BMQ/BOTP there is very little difference in the course, the officers end up doing a little extra which means we usually...

More "Army" in Army Cadets (combat training, etc.)

Which is all valid "combat" training. We had our cadets come out and watch us do a live fire shoot with the guns. Mind you they had to be about 50m back of the guns.. but they were there. I don‘t think however, that the cadets should actually be taught these things. The discipline isn‘t...

More "Army" in Army Cadets (combat training, etc.)

As far as I know, the SAT at Moss park STILL ISN‘T WORKING! :rage: If CSM McIntyre gets it up and running I have some troops I want to put through it.

    EX Stalwart Guardian

At least you guys weren‘t artillery in last year‘s milcon..... Did you infantry types even know we were there until the last day?? This year should be better though, we‘re running the artillery portion. Too bad I don‘t think I‘ll be able to go! :(

Dozen female U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq combat

That sounds about right. Privates don‘t get their hook until they are MOC qualified in our unit also. But I do remember that someone told me once that QL1 was basically a civilian off the street who had to start BMQ yet. It‘s the same in the army: recruit -> private untrained -> private trained

Dozen female U.S. soldiers have died in Iraq combat

and you called me a dink because.....? As far as I knew, QL1 was private untrained, QL2 is BMQ qualified and QL3 was MOC. Anyone know for sure?

QL1 is equivalent to untrained private. Basically, a civilian off the street.

More "Army" in Army Cadets (combat training, etc.)

I‘m all for cadets receiving "military" training... if that training includes discipline and PT. From the cadets I‘ve seen (air and army) these were the two biggest issues. I wouldn‘t even think about giving these kids a C7 when they can‘t even be trusted to stand still while at attention...

U.S. Military Deserters in Canada Megathread

I agree, I have a very difficult time getting my entire battery to show on parade nights. And due to their level of training (most of them are still on BMQ), there‘s not a heck of a lot I‘m allowed to let them do. But if the reserves were mobilized for war, exam or not, you would have no...

    fitness routines

for chin-ups with weight, you can get yourself a nuke bag (from Canadian Peacekeeper) and load that up with books or what not. It‘ll naturally ride high on the back when properly worn. And for those in the know, how much does forearm strength come into play when doing chin-ups?

    Wearing the uniform

FYI: There‘s a difference between being proud to be in the military and flaunting the fact that you are. Especially as a reservist. But I digress, you will learn all of this on your BMQ. No worries.

    Common Army Phase

For anyone going to Gagetown for CAP(R), BE PREPARED FOR THE WEATHER!!!! I can‘t stress that enough.. oh and the bugs too. EMEgirl, I lost 20lbs in 5 weeks on that course. You‘re not going to spend the entire 5 weeks in the field, but you are going to squeeze for time, especially meal times...

    Royal Marines Recruiting Ad

wow..that is the best ad i have ever seen.... i loved the part where the recruit is pulled out of the water and the DS tells him to compose himself and sends him on his way. and the last scene with the profile of the marine‘s face is killer. We have got to hire that advertising agency..
