    Search on for Missing Pilot

If HETS= longline, the boys did preposition it in case it was needed, early reports erroneously reported it as being the method of insertion. I don't think I would have the nuts to long line out with a carseat in my arms... that was the first question I asked when they got back.

    Search on for Missing Pilot

CASARA provide invaluable service during these searches, not only with the aircraft assets noted, but also within Search headquarters and augmentees to the military and civil aircraft crews. They are definately an intregal and welcome addition to a SAR case.

    SAR Tech

To be frank , as of today, nobody knows. There are Civilians on this year's course. What will happen at the end is still " in the air". What I hope happens is they are promoted cpl spec 2 once qualified to perform Team Member duties ( approx 3 months after completing course). MCpl as soon as...

Various Problems with The Cormorants- Merged

All right cannot resist any longer. Many of the problems we have with the shag (slang for a certain ugly seabird) are due to not getting enough of them in the first place. Even with all the issues, they are over 1000 hours each already, some over 2000. Other problems stem from not being privy to...

    Blood Type Tattoo

We'll see if this holds true in the future, as once again conflict and treating battlefield injuries brings sober second thought to old "norms" in emergency care. You don't have to look far ( read the article in the thread "Doctors gory tale angers... etc" in this forum for instance), to find...

    New CPR

Actually,my understanding is that the studies show that the pause to ventilate with 16% o2 is actually detrimental, and the indirect exhange of 21% o2 via the chest compressions is more effective. the constant circulation of blood is more valuable than a start and stop, and the blood gets oxygen...

I am intimately acquainted with someone whowas diagnosed and treated for post partum depression, and she needed a note from her doctor stating her tratment had ceased and that she had been without symptoms for X years. (maybe 1, maybe 1.5, or 2) I can't remember exactly. Anyway shae got her...

Any 1 CER members from early 90's still around

Teddy, remember when we shanghai-d you into the Navy? We had to get our Dive tender off the wall in the windstorm, and Tony falletta "ordered" you to assist, even though you had a flight out of Victoria that day?

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

I am naive, but I don't understand why reporters need to misinform for no good purpose, it is almost propaganda vandalism to so cloud the true picture. I hope this EADS style crying isn't continued, I for one am ecstatic to open My Airforce. ca and read the C27 is coming to America. All the hype...

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

We have brought Thermal/ IR resources to bear on search, Aurora, Griffon from 408 Sqn, even "Hawk one" Calgary Police helicopter. however, there has been more than once, when arriving onscene in the black of night over a particularily large stretch of land or Sea, when the crew has commented on...

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

You bring up a good point. B4 Cormorant, We had very less capability in Search or as you say "contact" phases of a Mission, due to the limitations you pointed out. However, the Cormorant, Despite it's maintenance issues, is quite capable as a Search platform, and has many times been dispatched...

Field Dressings : Is there any expiry?

Kinda sad, really, and speaks to inertia of our system. Sigh...maybe just maybe some day I will get a chitosan dressing.

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

Before the Buffalo, Air Force Rescue units flew Albatross flying boats. There is definite "upside" to having an amphibious aircraft, In fact there is a  picture on pg 2 of the aircraft folder in the Milnet gallery (not super tech saavy, so tried to insert it 2 different ways with no success...)...

    Hypertonic saline dextran (HSD)

TBI= Traumatic Brain injury? Forgive my ignorance. I am interested in this product, anyone can see how this relates toSARTech operations. We unfortunately are practicing our medicine in Canada on civilians, so unlike the military (and prisons ;)), don't have a suitable test population. It will...

Introducing ACP diploma into QL5 training

Just to muddy this thread a little more... we (SARTechs) have just had intubation removed from our scope of practice, and replaced with LMA (Laryngeal mask airway) w will be using LMA Supreme, which allows passage of an OG tube. Even when we did ET intubation by protocol, we did not have the...
