I was reading about more scams like this one and I came across a really funny one where they turned it around on an ebay scammer.
You might have heard of it, but it's the "p-p-p-powerbook" anecdote which has become somewhat famous (although today was the first I heard of it).
Don't underestimate the psychological benefits, the body is a weird thing.
I'd never pay $200 for one, or even $30, but if you can find a cheap one in Chinatown or a Balti Triangle and you actually believe in the stuff it might have benefits.
I find it useful for my anatomy and psych classes,
That is if I need a definition and an explanation and I'm not satisfied with the textbooks, I'll use wikipedia.
I don't even think you're allowed to credit it on papers, but if you look at the sources it can give you a place to start.
I find...
I see your view on the article for everything except the above quote and contrast it with the following comment by Couchcommander:
I think that it's just as detrimental to the idea of well reasoned and rigorous debate when either side makes use of the word "left" or "right"/"Neo-Con" so often...
I see what the author is getting at and I must say I've considered it on one level or another before.
But I find it floats close to the idea that you can't have a dissenting or differing opinion even in an academic sense, without being some kind of enemy of the state.
Maybe I misread it, but I...
I don't know how they can draw a real comparison between Vietnam Draft Dodgers and those guys who come North nowdays.
The biggest difference being the draft,
Granted they both object to their generations' wars, but the "dodgers" of today signed up voluntarily for the military.
If anything...
I'm still in disagreement over the quality of the family guy and simpsons,
Before they were well written on target plots with a clear beginning middle and end.
Now they are random flashbacks, which i know they had before, but if you watch the ones before there were a lot less. Don't get me...
I liked the old ones as well,
The premise of the show is great for writers too I think since they're not bound by things limited to earth (I think the simpsons are starting to run out).
I just hope it isn't as bad as when the Family Guy came back.
Niiice
I don't like the shows preachiness lately (even the creators don't seem to) but there was a run there from season 4-8 where it was a great mix of potty humour and social commentary.
Based on France's play today that shouldn't be a problem. I'd say the Swiss will provide a challenge because of their age and technical abilities.
I'd like to see the Swiss and SK go through, the French don't deserve to go through they've done nothing to develop their youth programme in their...
So Korea pulled it out at the end, I wasn't impressed by overall team perf. on either side.
One of the Korean strikes was textbook though.
France tied the Swiss; watched the whole game and I was amazed that this is supposed to be the same Thierry who plays for Arsenal and does Citron...
Yeah it's got something to do with goals scored and games won in the CONCACAF conference and you can see the flaw in that.
It's just like any other ranking system involving teams who never play each other (well just the BCS in the states but you get the point)
Observations on the Togo v. S...
That first goal was suuuuuperb, I saw a shot from behind Pirlo and he shot it through ...8 players and it railed into the side.
Bad play by the Ghanian defender at the last there, there is no such thing as a soft pass that close to the penalty box.
I think quite obviously the Czechs and...
3-0 Czechs,
The US were a team to watch in my books before that game, that was absolutely atrocious and I'd be surprised to see them win a game if they play like that against anyone else in their group.
That was the most dominating performance by any team in the tournament so far, not even...
