Adding to the fact that the ebola outbreak that's currently hitting Guinea is looking more and more like Zaire strain that currently has about a 59%-74% mortality rate, but has in the past hit upward of 90%.
This thing is something out of my nightmares.

One possibility is to get a credit card with a small limit and just use it to buy coffee from Tim Hortins, thus building a credit history. Plus they are useful in case of emergency as well.
The biggest thing is to make sure that you pay it back.
