Military Intellectual Blasts Endless PowerPoint Briefs

This is a workplace?  Where's my paycheck? The US powerpoint problem is not the same as ours.  While most Canandian presentations made are merely tedious and unimaginative, the US ones are crammed with an unbelievable density of useless data that the audience does not need.    I can well...

Hey what happened to the Queen's Medal?

Now there's a reason to have one! You could give a Queen's Medal to the winner of the rifle competition    :o ...or to the winner of the golf tournament......      ::)

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

I believe one of the first things they look for is 'individuality'.  This is immediately crushed.  :warstory:

    A Perspective on Russia.

Sigh.... what makes you think they are our 'ally'?  At the very best they are an aggressive 'formerly hostile' country that is still 'discretely hostile' upon occasion.

    Global Intelligence Briefing

Ditto... the final closing pargraph was especially entertaining.

    Top-heavy military throws spending off-balance

Good stuff except these two points: 4. Re-etablshing the naval and air units would also increase the administrative systems and supporting processes.  You would lose money not save it. 5. "Sane information technology management" does not exist.  Each element has its own interpretation of what...

Hey what happened to the Queen's Medal?

Why would you even want one?

Military Intellectual Blasts Endless PowerPoint Briefs

Why was this posted?  The qualities of the author, a military intellectual of such stunning brilliance he works in the 'Center for Cultural Conservatism for the Free Congress Foundation', are self-evident.  In addition powerpoints, arent actually blasted, only the concept of meetings.  Are you...

    Do Something Manly.....Quick!!

This is a hairy subject.  Seems like a fine line needs to be drawn as to what is 'manly' and 'unmanly' in the area. Area                        Manly? Head hair                - Yes Face                        - Yes Ears/Nose                - Questionable; extensive hair protrusion may limit...

    cars in the navy

Im sure there is an expert on this subject kicking around here someplace.  In the meantime, a lot of your question depends on where you get posted.  While ideally there is a single room for every soldier at every base, this is not true everywhere.

    The Curse of Cultural Awareness

Did they actually call it a 'manifesto'?  Perhaps 'guidelines' would be a better term...

    cars in the navy

This was the first car I owned in the military: a 1972 Datsun B210, except the one I had cost me $300 and looked nowhere near as good as this one.... Out of the 5 years I owned it, I only drove it for about 24 months.  Too much time away from base doing other things.

    cars in the navy

As advice for young guys who get cars anyway: - Dont buy a brand new 'babe magnet' type of car if its going to be left in storage or on an open parking lot for 6 months.  It will only attract either thieves or break-ins. - Buy a used car from a reputable dealer, preferably only 1-3 years old...

    Rick Mercer Fights Back!

Hmmm... looks like an interpretation of Politicaleese is required here.  Stand back, this could be dangerous.  "Please find attached a copy of my article." (You obviously have been listening to slander and second hand comments about my article.  Here's what I really wrote.) "I offer it to you...

    Rick Mercer Fights Back!

Interesting: I dont see any reference to qualifications or achievements in history, politics, international relations, or military studies.  The only part she seems to be basing her expert opinion on is the 'critical' part 'cause the 'theory' she's spouting isnt very logical. Perhaps someone...

    Rick Mercer Fights Back!

"You end by saying you personally cannot envision that peace can ever be paved with military offensives. May I suggest to you that in many instances in history peace has been achieved exactly that way.  The gates of Auschwitz were not opened with peace talks. Holland was not liberated by...

Muslim policewoman refuses to shake chief's hand

I seem to recall discussing this subject in the middle of last year on a different thread.  Time for a 'superthread' on the impact of external influences on our Canadian culture?

    The Curse of Cultural Awareness

Isn't refusing to acknowledge a female peace officer an illegal act in the first place according to the Canadian Charter?  Aren't these 'new Canadians' supposed to abide by the rule of our country of risk being sent home? I mention this because my wife is from another country and moved here...
