The trade currently has too many members. As a remedy the trade announced that the direct entry and component transfer programs were being put on hold and the course sizes were to be drastically reduced. This was two years ago and I am not entirely sure where that stands today. However, the...
Unfortunately those who have been rescued would not know the difference, those who have spent the night waiting for the weather to clear up are the ones with the better opinion. Landing in tighter areas is not a factor with a hoist equipped helicopter. No de-icing, no weather radar and cabin...
No you don't have to live in PMQ's.
You are a shift worker as a SAR pilot...so no you are not on call 24-7.
No such thing as overtime in the military.
Hope this helps.
I should add that 'SAR pilot' is not a trade.
A lot of valid points in that report. Some of the effects are already being seen. 424 sqn is going to a 1200-2000hrs standby posture with 'weekends' happening during the week.
It is possible to have drastic spikes if you are nervous. I usually sit around 110/70 but spike right before PT tests...which raises eyebrows from PSP . In fact I've been close to the BP cutoff. As said above, the best way is to have your BP checked over a period of time. Good luck!
If you are selected to go on course and you pass, then yes you will be a Sar Tech. Lately courses are run every year however that has not always been the case in the past.
I am a little confused by your post. To apply COTP you have to be in the forces already and you would not need to speak with a 'recruiter'. And yes the trade is full, but courses are still running every year with as little as six members.
Well this sucks. Thanks for the update. I am hoping that some aspect of reimbursement will remain however, the references to the EALP and tax credits is a little ominous.
What I find the most troubling is that they leave everyone hanging, especially with the 'may' portion. Either spill the beans or make up your minds prior to such 'notifications'.
Well thanks again for the clarification. I will be looking into this as it has been going on for years.
My apologies to winnipegoo7 for the wrong info....it sucks being wrong. I was wrong once before...1985 I believe...
Yes it does, thank you. So, just to be clear, para B explains the 'qualifying time' which would bump your hypothetical Cpl from basic level to Cpl Spec 1 IPC 4 ?
Never mind, Ive read it over and understand. This is very interesting as it is not what's happening or how it is being explained.
