    Psychological stress in training.

By negative reinforcement I mean something bad would happen as a means to make the subjects not want to fail. Positive reinforcement would be to do something good as an award for success. I suppose I could be mistaken in my terms though.

    Psychological stress in training.

during day 3 and 4, how did the students perform with the easier tasks?  Did they do better since the tasks were easier, or worse since they were more exhausted?

    Psychological stress in training.

Thanks everyone for your posts, all very helpful. Documentation I am looking for in particular should be on how candidates react to stress on course.  Though articles on stress in combat would be helpful, they do not cover reaction to stress in a controlled environment because battle is a...

    Psychological stress in training.

I'm doing a research proposal assignment for a social psychology class I'm taking at college. I have to prepare a research proposal on a subject of my choice.  This proposal must include articles relevant to the study. My topic of research is how mental stress effects the performance of a task...

    CF Transformation and Upcoming Election

Canada is not anti-military. The problem is the average canadian really cares about public health care, funding for specilized groups and social programs.  Parties that want votes are going to invest in these programs to stay in power, thus the CF becomes a secondary priority. How many...

    Deployment duration

You are correct.  My grandfather was overseas with the field ambulance from Thunder Bay from 1939 to the end of 1945.

Instructors giving students pushups - yay or nay?

I suppose the push-up rule is to prevent instructors from giving out rediculous amounts of push-ups that no recruit could do.  PT as a punishment works, to an extent.  I believe that making a recruit suffer through 200 push-ups will have no more of an effect doing 50.  Also, when the instructors...

    Canadians no longer remember

It's hard to say about this one. I would say that support has been going down in the GTA, but I saw TONS of people at the remeberance parade the weekend before.  My College had a ceremony on friday to my surprise with a large turnout aswell. There was one guy who put his hand up when the...

    Outdoor Education Gear list

Gortex is not 100% waterproof because it is breathable!  The material is woven so that it's easier for water to get out and not in.  Imagine  it being made of thousands of tiny funnels.  That being said, the only time I've ever had water penetrate gortex was a night when I was sleeping in my...

    Good Stories from summer courses

OK, I must tell my epic story from this past summer. I was an admin NCO for an armd recce course in Meaford.  At the end of the course they ran a Milcot conversion, since I didn't have milcot I requested to join the course as a half candidate half staff member for 2 days to get the...

    Certificates Offered in the Military

Though not awarded by the CF itself. Time in as a Combat Engineer in the reg force can count towards the academic requirements for certification as a Civil Engineering Technologist in Ontario (I'm not sure if this rule applies in other provinces, but I would say it likely does). www.OACETT.com...

    How did Militia training evolve?

It took me 4 courses to get my hook. 8 weeks worth for BMQ / SQ, 4 Weeks worth for DP1 and 4 weeks worth for DP2. 16 weeks is a long time, though not as long as the regs, I would still say that your typical army reservist who takes his job serious should be considered well tranined (though not...

You forgot location which is the first thing said in a sitrep.  It is either given as a grid or in reference using northings and eastings to another point (ex: 2 north 3 east from AA)
