    CAF with 2% GDP

New Amb's, potentially a replacement for the MSVS or start modifying some LAV III's to fill the role. . . Oh how one can dare to dream ;) (Don't misinterpret me as not liking the Bison, however if the budget was 2% then they could probably afford to start replacing some kit. )

Search for New Canadian Ranger Rifle (merged)

Is there any legislation or paperwork stating that they cannot be sold for civilian acquisition? I'd love to acquire a couple more Lee-Enfields for parts. Maybe even finally attempt to have a Tanker made. One can only hope.

    Looking for Jump Ruck

I actually just recently acquired a very old school 64 pattern rucks, the straps are mismatched and the frame is old but it comes with 2 of the large pouches. Where are you located, Lightguns?

    Non-issued Boots allowed?

As a recruit going through BMQ in St. Jean, you'll wear the issued footwear. Once you graduate and get posted, go on courses etc. PERHAPS you'll be granted the freedom to wear non-issued boots. TLDR; There are no acceptable non-issue boots for recruits.

Enrollment / Swearing In Ceremony [MERGED]

You can never go wrong with nice pants, dress shirt w/tie and some decent shoes. This is the early stage of your hopeful career, it's important to start conducting yourself with pride and professionalism. Trust me, the recruiter will notice and it WILL make a difference. There's always that one...

Recommendations for Books on Canadian Experience in WWI

You beat me to it, excellent book. One of my favorites, unfortunately I lost my copy a few years ago. Another good read is "The Brave Battalion" by Mark Zuehlke about the Can Scots.

Wanted for CF: "Commercial-off-the-shelf Precision (7.62 mm) Weapons"

I hate to immediately jump to the Secret squirrel answer, but the only answers I can up with are a.) For CSOR, JTF2 etc. B.)Attempting to replace the C3A1 with a more modern weapon? Purely speculation on my part, makes sense in my mind though.  :2c:

    Outdoor Gear Thread

I was somewhat in the same boat a few months ago on Ex, however I kept rolling off my sleeping pad and waking up freezing.  I couldn't for the life of me solve this problem, then on the 3rd day I was just simply told to slide the pad inside the bivvy bag. It was one of those moments that just...

    Outdoor Gear Thread

Hey, Eye in the Sky. I was curious as to whether you got the tarp tent ultralight shelter yet? I'm looking for a compact shelter and just noticed your post. If you have one, do you like it? How does it work? etc. So far I just use my ground sheet, however I'm at the point now where I'm...

    Medical Drop Leg Pouch recommendations

I got the Tacmed solutions Drop Leg pouch, It sits comfortably thus far and doesn't seem encumbering. I have plans to acquire the EOD pouch you mentioned, at this point in time though it's too expensive. I'm heading to the field soon, I'll post an update with how well it holds up/how useful it...

How to maintain the tan boots

Use hot soapy water and a nail brush, if the boots are brand new and not yet scuffed then a neutral polish works well for attempting to maintain them. Just because you don't HAVE to polish them doesn't mean you can't take 20 minutes and put some work in. That's just my  :2c:

    Running

Firstly, congratulations on getting your offer. Secondly, as for the distance ran every morning, it varies depending on your staff. Most mornings we did 3.2ish km's. Others the staff blocked off some time and we ended up running 6.4. With that said, at no point should you become comfortable...

Hey, Everyone. I've lately been looking at drop leg medical pouches to serve as my first line med kit in a dismounted role, I've found a pouch that I like and seems functional. Can hold enough gear to handle one to two patients depending on severity/injury as part of the MAR of the MARCCHE...

I was debating doing that today, wanted to avoid cutting the old buckle in case I had to exchange it but I guess that's probably what I'll end up doing tomorrow. Thanks!

    Outdoor Gear Thread

Hey, People. I'm just kind of pitching an idea here. For those of you like myself who were only issued the 82 pattern ruck, yet spend a fair amount of time in the field. Have any of you found a way to attach snap buckles to the two main straps that secure the main compartment? Just one of those...

    Wanted: Cadpat Arid used equipment

Obtaining genuine CF cadpat is a massive can of worms that you probably don't want to open. For the most part, actual cadpat issued gear is controlled and not to be sold. With that said, it's easy enough to obtain that kit through civi retailers like Soldier gear or CP Gear. Quick google search...
