My offer for MARS included an 8 year VIE. While this is speculation on my part, I see it as expecting ~4 years of training and then minimum 4 years to "pay that back" once trained, as there would be little value in the CF training me to be a MARS officer only to leave immediately afterwards. I...
Trust me, I know the feeling. I passed an interview in which I was told that I was definitely getting an offer only to get a letter a few weeks later stating that I was medically unfit for service and that my file was closed. It took me several years to get everything in my life lined up such...

Hang in there, you'll make it. I've also heard that character is "doing the right thing even when no one is watching" - there's no reason that you can't continue to work out and take pride in yourself as an applicant.
If you really like blowing things up, you might be interested in combat engineering or artillery. HMC ships and aircraft also carry more than a bit of explosive power.

DEO MARS. At the interview I was told that I should be very competitive, but there's no way to predict how many applicants will be ranked higher than I was.
edit: Looks like I will be joining you guys after all! Just got a reply saying that I was selected. :)
My great-grandfather was at Passchendaele. I can't imagine what he went through - his military record states "debility" as the reason for reporting to field ambulance; though I never met him, my mother says he was in a gas attack.
I'm jealous, hoping to get my call. If I don't hear anything in the next day or two I'm going to call CFRC and ask if there's any news - I know things don't happen immediately but suspense is killing me :)
This is partially true; a Marine was attacked, and his assailant apprehended. The injuries are an invented punch line.
