My husband has found out from an inside track that he is not in the next bout of training, we really aren't surprised by this.  He was told that after he arrives in Kingston he will probably have an "attached posting" to Borden and that it looks to be in his favour to get us up there with him. ...

Well he got his message yesterday.  He is to reprt ot Kingston the day after graduation.  We don't know if this means soldier or trade training is starting right away or not.  Can't wait to find out.

Thanks Super Slug.  Yeah I knew that he had to do soldier training before but at this point we don't even know when that is.  WE thought that he would find that out during his 6th week at BQ but apparently he will not find this out until he gets to Borden  right after graduation.  HO HUM. We...

Thanks for the responses.  My husband doesn't graduate from Basic until June 16th so we were trying to figure out when he would start his trade training.  I know he has to do his SQ training as well at some point.

Does anyone know when the next Sig Op course is in Kingston (Regular Forces)?

Just got back from my trip and wow what an amazing time even though it was short.  lol.  Can't wait to go again for his graduation.

You don't actually get paid what you are supposed to.  They give you a flat rate and than give you what is owing to you at the end of the training or when you report to your next location.  If you are entitled to separation pay than you will recieve $800 on the 15th and the end of the month. ...

I just found out some information about their pay so I am not necessarily sure that we can afford to do both this weekend and the graduation.    Oh well.   If I have to eat mac'n'cheese everynight I will.

Right now my husband is in St. Jean for his Basic training.  When my husband went to leave for his basic he was not allowed to bring his car.  He so badly wanted to as he wanted to be able to meet me half way on his weekends off but it was a no go.  Dont worry though the military sets up and...

Thanks Canadian Sig for answering all of my questions.  We will just have to take it one day at a time and see what is in the cards for us.

It is obvious that 90 minutes is an hour and half but my comments stated that it was past where I was going which took me an hour and a half to get to.  Hence it would be more than 90 minutes.

I could have sworn that it was past the Drive In out there and that took us an hour and half to get there.  Mind you we took the old highway and went cross country so that in itself will add time on.  

So when did your family get to move to be with you?  After you got back from Afghanistan?  How often did you get to see your family when you were on course? My concern is that we won't see him during basic,  his SQ and during his trade training.  A year of not seeing him at all is a lot to ask...

So he must be air force than is he? 

What are your husbands choices for postings?  I can just tell you that halifax and/or shearwater is 20-30 minutes from the Halifax International Airport.  Greenewood is about 3 hours I believe away so that wouldn't work for you. Can any one else add comments about the other bases across Canada?

My husband only got 2 and a half weeks notice but he was the last one in our region to find out so I don't think that that is the norm.  The other guys that got sworn in got 5 to 6 weeks notice.

A couple of friends that are currently in the military told me that.  Oh well I will just have to take it one day at a time and see what happens.
