Wearing Danners and Magnums when on class A

Just remember, that so long as you are in the "field" CANLANDGEN 003/98 still applies, ignore all the parts of it that go on talking about non issued kit making us look like a substandard army, I figure crappy kit would do this better than "idiosyncratic kit" (right from the Order) would.  But I...

So Who's Got The New Bayonet?

Dig that picture, mine has just been showed its new home. If you wanted to be really creative, you could mount your two extra pouches right behind the pouch you have on there, one on each side, and they would be under the bayonet, you need to use your Gerber to get the webbing threaded on, but...

    Reserve-Stalwart Guardian 05

Funny how we figure that all these different units can come together in only a few hours, and exercise as a cohesive unit immediately.  "Were you not told" good one, there is a good chance that they had no idea you guys were even thee, let alone watching the objective.  Got to hold a few more of...

Helmet upgrades ? MICH / ACH style pads in CAF style kevlar, any one done one?

That is definitely worth looking into, packing material, oh man.  When I pulled it our, it seems to be the same foam as it in a bike helmet, and I believe you are supposed to toss your bike helmet after a hard impact, so do I toss my helmet after I heave it into the back of a truck?  Or just...

Helmet upgrades ? MICH / ACH style pads in CAF style kevlar, any one done one?

Read all of the "happy customer" testimonial on their site, it seems worth it.  I have done the pads and think it is time to order the strap now.  The stuff feels like some kind of a memory foam and really takes the shape of your head well.

    Air Defence Units New Role?

MrGnr27 56 RCA has converted to mortars and has brought them out on the last two summer concentrations.  They had 5 tubes on the one that finished last week.  They still have their C3's. or did the last time I talked to one of their number ones, but they were only being used for salutes, and...

So Who's Got The New Bayonet?

Recruiting Posters, Slogans and Commercials [Merged]

I am just more impressed with the ads for US technical schools where guys are making guidance systems for their armies, or NVG systems and stuff, you know the ones you see on stuff like Horsepower TV, where they go from tinkering in their garage to maintaining an Abrams, note, maintaining it...

Deconstruct those poster a different way, look for what is right, it ends up being a shorter list than listing all the faults, out dated kit, and PC wack stuff. A note on Fatties versus Dummies for Springroll, Assuming your dummy is reasonable fit, they can do their job, because they are...

Canadian "Support Our Troops" Ribbons, Bracelets, Pins, etc

I would like a bracelet about twice the size of the "big boned Teenager ones" What a great replacement for boot bands, nice and wide, made of silicone so it will take a long time to wear out.  Only not Livestrong ones since I can't afford to pay Lance every time I use them.

    Non Issue Boots

Go for wigwam over smart wool, you get more choice, and they have really high standards, good for the consumer as there is a crap load of half price factory seconds on the market, usually about 20 percent of a Wigwam display is seconds, and cost about 40-60 percent less, and are just amazing. ...

So Who's Got The New Bayonet?

I don't get Krazy-P's comment, it is the "Bayonet 2000" so it can;t be any more than 5 years behind anything, if it was 10, it would be the Bayonet 1995.  Mine has a screw driver bit on it because it was a company sample, the issue ones have it removed, with the driver on it, it made everyone...

    Bates Infantry Combat Boots

http://www.yoursole.com/index.htm Read the testimonials.  The way these are built leads me to believe it will be a long time before they wear out.  There is a  really dense foam rubber on the bottom that is hard and fits really well into the bottom of the boot but eliminates that horrible...

    Bates Infantry Combat Boots

I believe I am a Sole man, worth a try, cost is 40 bucks, available at Marks Work Wearhouse, but a 90 day money back on them.  Give it a whirl, cook them in the oven and do a march or two and they fit really well.

CADPAT Sniper suits/smocks myth or reality?

It is real.  Looks like the trial ones here at work, only it is AR and the ones here are TW.  My monitor is to green and the one Pappy showed looks TW to me.

    How to Pack Sleeping Bags

No one will "crap out on the hygine".  Once a guy goes a few days and the rest of his section ID's him as a dirty billy or a Scuz bag, he will start cleaning himself a bit better.  I only once encountered a guy that was a filth monster, in Meaford in 97, a guy showered three times on a 6 week...

    Bates Infantry Combat Boots

I'll let you know after a march Monday morning.  I was given a pair of the "Sole" insoles to try.  Put them into the oven, tossed them in the boots, and I'll post my first impression Monday morning.  If they live up to their hype, then they should be the best.  I have done the sorbothan and...
