The stuff the Army issues is Excellent!

Trying to recall the area proportions for figuring out the percentage of body burned.  9% for each extremity, chest was 18%, and groin is 1%.  Saving the upper body from serious burns is more "important" than your lower half.

    Life Insurance in the Reserves

Pretty much as dapaterson mentioned.  Most life insurance policies become void if killed in a "war. riot, civil uprising.... etc.  I don't know if they would cover your death if a training accident happened either. Go with SISIP.

    Age Limits to Join

The one thing I may discourage is the Reserves and it is something I see suggested quite a bit before joining the Regs.  A CT can be a pain in the ass process, unless they have streamlined it the past while.  If you change your mind later on before making a commitment to the reserves, and in 10...

    Medical Standards - Weight

I enlisted at 270 lbs, and made it through.  It was tough work, but well worth it.

    Military Discounts List

We were also told on tour, that, BMW gives a discount 10-15%.  Harley-Davidson unfortunately doesn't, but there is one in Winnipeg that will, but you have to travel there to pick up the bike.

    Military Discounts List

I'm not sure if Sleep Country has been mentioned yet, but in Edmonton at Namao Centre, they gave me a 10% discount, and threw in the floor frame for free.

    Credit Check Superthread- Merged Topics

I was having the same problem with some debt before I enlisted.  I contacted the collection agency, made a deal with them that I would pay x amount of dollars every month.  I then had them fax that agreement to the recruiting center to show the CF it was being dealt with.  That was all that was...

    Deployed soldier fights phone bill

A lot of places will give a discount with military ID, they just don't advertise it.  I believe there is a page around here somewhere of places that will give discounts for military personnel.  Just last week, when I got my oil changed at a Wal-Mart in BC, I saw a sheet taped to the desk beside...

    MPs in the field?

The new term for POMLT is OMAT (A is for Advisory), not that it really makes that big of a difference.

How long a wait for DP1?

You will be wanting to do it in the spring/summer, as opposed to the winter.  As far as actually when?  I have no idea.  Concentrate on making it through BMQ first.

What's the dumbest thing you heard said today?

Me:  I miss Afghanistan.  The sun was always shining, rarely any rain, the only rush hour traffic was us, and the smokes were cheaper.

    New Rucksack

I honestly can't recall who it was, or even what rank.  All I remember was that it was someone showing us a power point presentation about it.  The issue was brought up a few times but the reply was pretty much the same all the time, "You won't be using this while wearing FFO w/ plates."

    Deployed soldier fights phone bill

I had bought an Roshan cell phone.  It was not worth it, even though it only cost me $50 USD.  It works in some areas, mainly KAF, but good luck with getting a Roshan cell signal in a FOB.  It makes sense not to be able to pick up service in areas, it was just aggravating being told it would...

Yes, because as we were told at our rucksack fitting and issue, you won't do ruck marches in FFO.  ???

someone 's infatuation with becoming a spy

As an NCM, you have to have a minimum of 3 years previous service, or is it 4?  There are waivers dependent on numerous factors that only a recruiting center would reliably be able to tell you.  As an officer, the prerequisites are different, and again, get a hold of a recruiting center. ...

Afghanistan, is it worth it- Cheating Spouse Thread

What happens on weekends is what happens on weekends.  If it occurs on weekdays, it can result in disciplinary actions being taken.  In RFT, 2 people were caught fraternizing during the weekdays in the Mega after lights out, and were separated, one being sent to PAT, and other staying in RFT. ...
