Running at BMQ. Do they time you?

Well, yeah, I guess so.  They do look at the individual situation and if say for the PT test, somebody failed due to injuries, then probably they won't be released, but will be given time to recover (and get recoursed).  BUt say for the weapons test, if you fail the 2nd time, you get released (I...

Running at BMQ. Do they time you?

Nobody wears the running shoes that are issued because they're crap.  Even the instructors said so.  SO bring your own!  I believe right now, there's still a retest for everything if you fail the 1st time.  But if you fail the 2nd time, you're released (used to be recoursed, but not anymore). ...

Basic Trainig In St. Jean Que.

Lights out at 11pm and usually you're supposed to get up at 5:30 except when you got PT in the morning, then you get up at 4:00 or 4:30 depending on when the instructors want to start.  You'll find some people like to get up really early...like at 4:30 even when there's no inspection and raise a...

Soldier Qualification Course (Questions & Answers)

I've read the info on SQ in the FAQ section.  But I'd like more details...preferably from somebody who's recently finished the SQ course.  I've heard some people say 70% of the people fail it and that it's 10 times harder than BMQ.  I just want to know if that's true...

    Packing for Basic [MERGED]

You need a picture frame with a picture in it out for inspection.  If you don't have a picture, put a postcard in it...

    little bit disappoint

Can't say I'm surprised.  Personally, I've tried to contact reserve units and 99% of the time, there's nobody to pick up the phone and 99% of the time, if you leave a message, no one ever calls you back.

    Language in BMQ

Most of the instructors here in St. Jean speak French as their first language, so there will be no problem.  As for posting, if you prefer to use French, then they might post you to Valcartier.

    Packing for Basic [MERGED]

And on the "things to bring" list, where it says Picture frame (optional).  It's NOT optional, it's required.  So bring one, or buy one at the Canex.  And bring a picture too!

    Packing for Basic [MERGED]

OK, I'll try to answer all the questions raised in this thread... 1.  The list they give you telling you what to bring...well, if you don't want to lug around heavy suitcases, you don't have to buy any of that stuff because you can get them all at the Canex in St. Jean...except personal items...

    proper pushup form- please clarify

Maggie, I've heard there are somewhat different standards regarding how push ups are to be done at different recruitinig centres.  Here in St. Jean, they want you to have your hands beneath your shoulders and when you go down, your arms have to be parallel to the ground.  If they are not low...

Questions about recruiting and BMQ? Post here!

Hey, everyone.  It's been a while since I came on here.  Oh, this is Greywolf, by the way.  I'll be going to Farnham next week.  So if anyone got any questions about BMQ, I can probably answer them (I've been here at St. Jean for 9 weeks already).  I got recoursed because I got chickenpox in the...

Enhanced Reliability Check (ERC) - Merged

I have to enter the name of a neighbor for the references other than the 3 (who could be friends, colleagues...). That‘s on the form where you have to take to St. Jean when you go to Basic.

    Weapons (safety?) test

I‘ve read from a couple of posts where people have mentioned that they failed the weapons (safety) test. What does this test entail? How to load and assemble a weapon in a specified time? Is it a hands-on test or is there a written component to it? How complicated is it?

    MOC Training

I‘ve read that at BMQ in St. Jean, you have to jump off the spring board and do a somersault before entering the water without a lifejacket, is that true? I can just jump off the board into the water, but I‘ve never done a somersault before... I‘ve wondered why the somersault is required...

    Basic Recruit Course

If you mean the dates, you can have a choice. Say, if you can‘t make it on a certain date, they can postpone it. But if you mean...if you can choose to be in course 1234 or course 4567 (I‘m just making these numbers up), I don‘t think so. There really isn‘t a good reason for you to change to...
