I think longer deployment would be a good idea. I did almost 10 months on 1-06 and it wasnt bad. That being said I think that getting rid of HLTA would be a mistake. It is a great break in the tour, it is a HUGE selling feature when explaining to your old lady how long you are going to be away...
Darren,
Im not sure if you meant me but;
We were issued TT Med pouches with TT drop legs by the battalion. We have been told we are to be issued new pouches by the TF once in theater. I was under the impression that we were getting the CTOMS pouches, but I guess they are only going to the...
Sorry, I was unclear. I didnt mean your post in particular was a moot point, more that the whole debate about whether the badge was a good idea or not was a moot point.
I think all of this is somewhat a moot point. My understanding is that the CAB is already a done deal? Please, someone correct me if I am wrong. Does anyone have any pictures, or pdf's of what it is supposed to look like?
Vern, I agree that attitude is key. I dont think it is on to have an attitude of "worthiness" or "unworthiness" . Attitude is something that cant really be controlled and I dont think having or not having a certain badge will drive attitude. If someone has a bad attitude it will be bad, or vice...
I think that the reason that a badge is needed results from two factors;
1. That the combat we are seeing now in Afghanistan is substantially different from anything we have seen before. I dont want to say more worthy or try and quantify the validity and danger of different tours, but it is...
I agree 100% Vern. That is why I wanted to be really careful in my post to make sure I wasnt singling any group out. I think some of the hardest working guys on 1-06 were the truckers braving the roads daily to bring supplies out to the FOB's. For this very reason I think the CAB is a good idea...
All though it seems that this is an unpopular concept, I think that the CAB is the perfect solution to this issue. The issue as I see it;
The same medal is being awarded for "roughly" the same theater. Many feel that the hardships, danger, etc between those actually in Afghanistan and those...
Hey guys, pretty simple question. Just wondering what kind of pouch is currently being issued to section TCCC guys in theater? Is it the CTOMS pouch, or some other pouch. Any info or pics would be greatly appreciated.
As others have said the Eo Tech works extremely well on the C9. A couple of the gunners in platoon are using them, and our chain is trying to get a few more to throw on our other guns.
This is similar to the issues that I, and others ran into on 1-06. Not enough stock to exchange stuff, guys not getting issued things, and again, this experience is why I am buying my own socks! Good intentions, computer systems and "entitlement", dont get socks without holes on my feet! Vern...
I understand. This is getting ridiculous, and is quickly losing an relevance to the topic of this thread. Like you said there are short comings in the system, yes guys should get stuff issued/exchanged overseas, and the reality of the situation is that a lot of guys, including me, are purchasing...
I see where you are coming from, but please do not groundlessly infer that I am being dishonest as I take offense to that.
As far as the conduct guidelines are concerned, I have read them all, and I am in no way posting "deliberately" misleading information. I was issued 8 shirts and 8 socks...
First off I am at a loss to understand why your posts have turned antagonistic and somewhat rude? Was I condescending, or rude to you in any of my posts? I do not think so.
Secondly, where in my posts did I say that I threw out my t shirts or socks from 1-06? Obviously I did not. I still have...
I understand what you are saying but... First off in Edmonton at least they do not have any more brown tshirts, and no desert socks to issue. We got 3 brown tshirts, and no desert socks. The CTS boxer is not practical in the desert in my experience, it doesnt matter though as I went commando...
heres the issue I have. I got issued 3 Brown t Shirts and 3 pairs of black liner socks. The majority of the smaller FOB's dont have laundry. So we are supposed to get by with basically 3 changes of under clothes for about a month in desert conditions ::) ridiculous. Obviously, being the kit...
As everyone knows I am a big kit slut, I would save your time and just buy boots. The issued ones are junk anyways. What I dont get is desert socks. When we got our AR stuff issued we were told that there are no more desert socks being made, and that stock is dwindling. We were told we *may* get...
