    Future of CAP

Believe me - I understand the confusion related to CAP - I'm not sure why it went all fuzzy but even in CTC HQ its' sometime confusing (no comments please).  To alleviate some of the confusion the HQ has sent out a "travelling roadshow" complete with dancing bears to the various HQ both Res and...

    Future of CAP

CAP is a 5 mod system. Modules 1 and 5 can be taught decentralised.  Just don't go to the Infantry School finish Mod 2,3 & 4 and expect to be qualified CAP. You still need to get Mod 1 and 5 done.  But nothing precludes an individual from coming to Gagetown in the summer and doing all 5 modules.

    Army Courses List

If you can get on the Army News website they have a feature on the Met Tech trade. Link below for the DIN. http://www.armee.forces.gc.ca/lf/English/6_5_2.asp

    Off CAP...Four Days Before Flight

That's interesting I got on my file 20 posns allocated to LFCA - mind you because Tasks are not being filled by the Areas (ie Instructors, support staff) some of the courses are on the verge of cancellation.  I will trg and dig up something further. I have a copy of your message to go to Mod 1...

    Army Courses List

Gents I am going to try and add the link to the 06/07 and 07/08 Army National Individual Trg calendars.  These list the courses that are planned by the Army for those respective years. http://armyonline.kingston.mil.ca/LFDTS/143000440010602/Default.asp This is the CTC Gagetown Website for...

    Worried

Don't sweat it, a wiseman once told me that it's the annoying people who get what they want - so yes keep bugging the Cpl.  If you do move with your family - it should be a minimal hassle as your "file" is in the system although it would be nice to carry on with the paperwork where you are known...

Asics Keyano at Sport Check..Cleared with Mike

Bzzliteyr - FYI - I don't have an air conditioner in the office and CTCHQ does not have a built-in sprinkler system so when I instantaneously combust from the heat of the staff work I do, combined with the heat from my dual monitor system and the normal hot air found around an HQ - I will think...

Asics Keyano at Sport Check..Cleared with Mike

Any chance that Sport Chek is going to get any Under Armour Tactical Wear?  I can buy it on ebay but I hate the shipping costs.

    Crossfit & the CF

Some interesting discussion on Crossfit.  As I just finished the CrossFit seminar in Gagetown, I can add something useful to the discussion.  First of all the 3 day seminar was to allow us to be CrossFit level one coaches - There is, I believe at least 3, possibly four levels of coaching.  You...

    Non Issued Prescription Glasses

Personally I would go with two pairs of glasses - whether it be one regular and one prescription sunglasses or two pairs of regular with the clip on.  If you are near blind like me, if somethings goes wrong with the first pair (lens pops out etc) you have the second pair handy so that you can...

    The Gagetown Thread- Merged

Bzzliteyr, but that would mean I'd have to actually get out of my chair and walk down the hall and maybe up or down a few steps.  The bus is laid on by the area not CTC HQ estee.  Perhaps you can offer a spot on the moving truck, Bones?

    The Gagetown Thread- Merged

If I remember correctly (and they do it again).  I believe SQFT lays on a bus every summer for staff tasked to Gagetown to take staff back and forth from Quebec every weekend.  Contact the School that you are working for to find out if that is happenning again this summer.

Running: Training, Problems, Techniques, Questions, etc

Try Runner's World which rates trail shoes and if you dig into their web site - hydration systems too.  Me I run with a Louis Garneau (Canadian) system which has worked for a while.  I never liked fanny packs as I found they bounced to much and chaffed considerably - plus my CD always skipped -...

US Troops To Attack An Ambush (now a discussion on CDN ambush tactics)

Attached hopefully is the link to the Director General Land Capability Development site where the Convoy Escort - TTPs can be found.  Mind you the focus is on the Convoy Escort.  The only downside that I can see is that eventually - the ambushers will change their tactics to counter the counter...

    Suggestions?

For a chin-up bar - try ebay.  I recently bought something called the door gym which allows you to do chin ups at any doorway.  If you don't want to spend the money try doing chin-ups at the local school yards on some of the climbing equipment.  Instead of books try filling 2 Litre bottles with...

    ATV RECCE TRIALS

We got to start thinking outside the box.  I will insert a link for an Israeli AUGV - Autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicle called the Avant Guard.  Basically a beefed up ATV designed for manned or unmanned operations.  Perhaps the CF should be looking into this as the alternative to manned ATV...

Forced to pay / belong to a mess [Merged]

Knucklehead - There may be some hope, but I doubt it, as you are not on ration strength.  Please read the following DCBA instruction on reimbursement for mess dinners (if you are on TD or ration strength) http://hr.ottawa-hull.mil.ca/dgcb/dcba/engraph/mess_dinn_e.asp?sidesection=2&sidecat=7...

Capabilities of Armour as seen by the Inexperienced

First of all I have to say Tanks rule however I have to admit the following comment will not make it seem that I am a Track supporter.  In the debate of what ground a tank cannot go in but a LAV III can I submit the following: While teaching a DP1 Armour crewman course in Meaford, I remember...

    old officer question

I think Quag has raised some good generic points about going officer.  I don't think 35 is to old - in the case of doing PT on course, most of the course officers/staff are around that age - so keeping up shouldn't be a problem if you put in the honest effort to get physically prepared. ...

    Future Armour

TCBF Acknowledge your point, but ask the Infantry/Armour School how they feel about slaving a vehicle to a simulation system when there is a shortage of vehicles out in the trg area due to high VORs.  Now that we will have a "Marine-like" corps the simulation within the FCS will prove useful to...
