Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

I'm going to disagree on the typo.  I'm certain there's a typo in pay rate of Cpl 5A, Spec 1, IPC 1...  Why else would they make more than CWO? (and for only one year)

    ROTP 2010-2011

Aircrew selection can be done later.  I went there 4 months after my offer was made.  The subject of actually booking it did not even come up until during the "Here's your offer..." call.

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

For DEO: Some specialist trades such as Doctor, Dentist, Lawyer, Pharmacist, Chaplain are automatically promoted to Captain.  For them, direct entry requires that they already be qualified/practising. (to answer the question directly, it is both the trade and that associated degree) GSOs and...

3 from my course were Captains while on course: 2 Docs, 1 Pharmacist (Captain bars with the 'racing stripe' really confused some people)

    ROTP 2010-2011

Who told you?  Was it a recruiter/someone else in the recruiting system?  I ask because my current understanding is that like the two previous ROTP intakes, applicants are occupationally grouped (eg. "Air Ops") initially, with MOSIDs (eg. "Pilot") assigned after they are in the system for a...

    ROTP 2009 (Summer)

How so?  I'm curious.  Is there a plan to have an indoc course, like with RMC?  I can't see much else to be done with untrained OCdts other than put them on LWOP like was done last year. It's a definite maybe.  It really depends on what they send you.  The most useful information I received...

Mandatory to live on campus in University?

It's only mandatory if the university being attended has mandatory residence.  RMC & RMC St-Jean: mandatory Other (civilian) university: depends on the university, I haven't heard of any civilian uni requiring it.  UVic definitely does not care where I live. It's more expensive to live in...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

My rough average for grades was around 80% (some college courses included) - Remember, grades aren't everything.  They'll look at other things you do (extracurriculars, life experience, etc.) I applied at 24, turned 26 just after starting.  Does that make being "older" at 20 seem any better?  :P

Zero Pilots Being Hired in 2009?

This thread caught my eye for the same reason.  Second thought: "Wouldn't pilots think higher of themselves?"  ;)

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

Quick answer: Most likely.  Better answer? Talk to your CFRC.  You'll likely be on LWOP until the end of the summer anyways, and you'll be encouraged to find employment for that period as the CF will not be paying you at that point. My phone call was made on 12 Feb 08.  My letter was dated 30...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

Since you're accepted (congrats!) you just go ahead and register like any other civvy student.  When you do up your claim in the fall, you'll be reimbursed then.  If you need, you can get an advance on your claim in the fall in order to pay the full tuition, otherwise the paperwork's a little...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

The university itself is your posted unit.  It's part of your ETP message.  Thus, the CF needs to know where you'll be for admin purposes (support base) not to mention reimbursment of tuition.

    New CPR

As of when I left my (BC) fire dept last summer, we were still using protocols developed in Seattle (IIRC).  2 minutes of uninterrupted compressions at 100/min per rescuer then switch.  Second rescuer with BVM would time their 'squeeze' with the recoil phase of the chest, every 10th...

    Aircrew Selection/ACS (Merged)

From what I recall (Jun 08), writing the Nav test was not an option, it was part of the selection course. CAPSS isn't something you can really study for, anyways.

BMOQ in Kingston for ROTP/RMC ??

In our SEM briefing in September, it was mentioned that there was a plan in the works for a 'supercourse' of 11 weeks duration.  The concept was that training 6 days per week, as well as lengthening the training day by several hours would cut down the overall length of the course. Since then, I...
