"To pretend the army cares if a young mcpl leaves is unrealistic. They'll just make another one."
I have to disagree. MCpls are the backbone of the forces. Conveniant Cpls and conveniant Sgts as reqd. The army as a whole may not care, but their home units sure do. Good jacks are out there...
I agree with Harris on pretty much all he said. Except rather than 'get out' if you turn down a deployment, you get kicked out. Unless you have a bloody good reason.
After discussing this with my peers there appears to be only one answer, and many won't like it because it is not why we...
How about a very senior Patricia, served for years, addressing one of the Battalions as Princess Patricias Canadian Light Artillery? Sounded rather odd at the time.
Whatever 48th, different views again. Ya know whats strange, all the experts and health officials that say they can diagnose PTSD just from talking to a person. How can soldiers come back from firefights in Astan with no issues, but an air force guy working in Trenton has PTSD from watching...
Sure, you can look at it in that type of compassionate way, and there is nothing wrong with that. But save the sarcasm for somebody else, and don't be scared of opinion! Do yourself a favour and open your eyes. Nothing is rosey and peachy out there, so why pretend. Remember, the mental...
The suck it up attitude IS still there, and I am guilty of being part of it. But if a group of people all go through the same, or similar, experiance;ie, a big fight where people die and you get your butts kicked, it is, IMHO only natural for some ti wonder why others are effected more by it. ...
Ok, time to ruffle some feathers. I ahve a couple questions that nobody really seems to have an answer for, at least not one I like.
First, why do we offer three year full time comtracts to reservists anyway? If they want to work full time, why do the not go reg force? Seems logical to me. ...
I agree, of all the people that walked past this garbage can, it was this individual from the Rideau institute that decided to have a look. Way to conveniant for me to believe.
If CTC is the center of excellence, then at what level do we judge excellence? The instructors are not the issue, they have to do as ordered. And in 99% of the cases they have no freedom of movement. Anyone who actually believes the Center of Excellence title really needs to get out more often.
Please tell me noone from the schools has got this job. God help us all. It's for effective training, not seventies training following 381 by the letter. Remember, train to fight, not train to train! Ah, amn, I hate Gagetown. Only one week left!!! Then it's back to where the sky is blue.
The way I see it, the media loves military bashing on a daily basis, mostly. And the Afgfhan issue is always a headline grabber. And numpty goes and gives them more fuel to throw on the fire. Well done, Francis!!! (sigh)
Tis is all too far over hyped. Look in any defense mag or Janes book, all the tech info about a veh that you can get your hands on. If a guy wants to take a pic of his blown up car, then try and stop him. he has earnt that right. If a section/platoon/coy wants apic with an army car then good...
The hardest thing is finding a routine. Our new CO after the tour has done the best he can, and over achieved in many areas in his attempt to get us a routine, so well done to him. But there will always be tasks and the such coming down from outside the unit. I personally find work now far...
