    Artillery Officer Merged Thread

I've been searching around looking for information about Artillery Officer career progression.  I have found a bit of information here and there but I am looking for something more comprehensive. My questions pertain to what happens after CAP. 1.  How long is phase 3 and phase 4 training? 2. ...

    Common Army Phase

Naval Intelligence Officers are no longer required to do CAP.  This came straight from the CMS N2 himself.  Also confirmed by a friend of mine, also a Naval Intelligence Officer.  He just finished BMOQ and he is going straight to NETPO, then going to the wait list for BIOC. What coast are you on?

    "Canada's military: Invisible no more"

There has been a tremendous amount of progress made in the last decade as the article points out.  The wow factor for me is that our country's intellectuals are starting to take note of it, as are limited members of the media.  If this trend continues for another 10 years, then I beleive we will...

    NAVRES BMOQ Equivalency

You definitly do NOT have to do the BMOQ again.  The NAVRES BMOQ at VENTURE is fully equivalent to the BMOQ run in St Jean.  Some would argue that the intensity is less severe at VENTURE, but that is irrelevent.  The fact remains that completing the course at VENTURE will grant you the AIPB...

On asking questions & hostile dog-pile replies.

I am in agreement with alot of what Vimy_gunner is saying.  The fact of the matter is, there are likely quite a few Canadians out there that would make fantastic sailors, soldiers or airmen/airwomen that are not going to spend hours searching forums for information.  Frankly, it is much easier...

    MARS Training [Merged]

Looks like we have become a victim of our own recruiting success.  I have a number of friends who just made it into MARS and started BMOQ in Oct, but I have others that have to wait until the next year.  As has already been mentioned, the CF is simply unable to accomotate all the new potential...

    Navy Reserve Intelligence

Naval Reserve INT officers used to be classified as NCS which is Naval Control of Shipping.  In the early 90s that trade got rolled into intelligence.  However, part of the NAVRES Basic Intelligence Officer Course (BIOC) still has what we now call NCAGS material in it.  NCAGS is the modern...

    Navy Reserve Intelligence

My guess is, you will be waiting at least 2 years or so before the trade reopens.  I am a reg force INT O Navy and I am one of those people waiting for the BIOC.  Im told to expect a course sometime in 2012.  It would be a waste of money for them to bring more guys into the trade if they cant be...

The Sleep Superthread- Apnea/ Disorders/ etc.

Your sleeping patterns sound very similar to my own.  I was diagnosed with Insomnia back in May, and possibly may have sleap apnea (still being looked into).  They treated me with very mild sleeping pills and for the most part, as long as I am disciplined about taking them at the right time...

PRes NCM to Regular Logistics Officer -- Some Questions

I think in this case your trades choice may have something to do with the delay.  It appears that LOG O training is backed up and those who are already in the reg force are waiting a long time for MOC training.  Its possible that based on this, they have closed down LOG O intakes for the time...

Don Cherry Supports the troops! - MERGED THREAD

Im not a patricia, but I think this was an excellent choice.  Now we just need to make William Shatner an honorary Captain!

    Questions about the reserves

If WW3 ever truly did breakout, then I would suggest there would be no trade or MOC in the CF that would be safe from bullets. If you want to join the military, you will have to accept the possibility of being wounded or killed.  Granted as a reservist who never volunteers for overseas duty the...

09/10 Budget Impact on PRes - Unit stand-downs, Class B Freeze, and so on!

For those who were inquiring, the Class B freeze order came from the CLS himself.  Notice was given approx 3 weeks ago.  The explanation for the funding cuts was that some room in the army budget had to be made to accomodate all the new equipment purchases recently announced.

Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

You will certainly find that running will be more challenging then rollerblading.  In addition to rollerblading everywhere, I would recommend making a point of trying to do a 5km run 3 times per week.  If you can do 5k in about 30min or so, I would say you are at a bare minimum ability.  I say...

Government finds new ways to screw soldiers in the name of saving money: door-to-door move policy

Is anyone here familiar with "non IRP" moves for people still on the BTL?  I am told that I will be undergoing one of these moves shortly but havent been able to find any information here or on the DIN, though my search skills are notoriously bad. I have an appointment with the admin folks for...

War Museum Controversy and Follow-up Thread [merged]

I think its good that they left the anti-war domestic side of things out of the war museum.  If they want an exhibit, they should push for their own museum.  That way the war museum does not get waterred down by politics, and every activist group and their dog.

"Harper speaking to Canada's dark side?"

I wonder if his "war on terror" comment was intended, or if it was a slip up.  I think the reality for us right now is that its both.  There is still a war on terror going on, simultaneous to COIN ops.  The COIN ups being the facilitator to the ultimate end game; winning the war on terror.

Bill Shatner: Captain Kirk in the Canadian Navy(from the Ottawa Citizen)

Captain Kirk would never again accept a promotion to Admiral.  He would insist on Captain! But seriously, the idea has alot of hitting power.  If he wraps himself up in this, and you pair him up with a good PR guy, were bound to have too many recruits and start having to turn guys away. ...

"Harper speaking to Canada's dark side?"

Again, there need not be any suspicion about what Trudeau's original objectives were with reference to NATO.  He wanted to pull ALL of the troops out of Europe, however, it was decided not to pursue with that course of action "at this time" 1969 that is, due to other political considerations...
