any info on entry plans would be appreciated

A question about that. Are promotions really slow in the Pilot MOC? I know you make your way to Lt. once you get your wings, so it all comes down to course timing. But 4 years as an OCdt/2Lt? That's a long time. Wow. I always thought $60,000+ would go farther than it does now, I guess.

    Okay, whats next- after ACS

Oh god no. That's what we are all here for. The more information we share, the better it is for all of us. Keep it coming. 80 is around the number I heard as well. There should be another board in March, so that means this one in November should be the 2nd last board of the fiscal year...

    Naval ranks and careers

Join the Navy. You'll find out then.  ;) Like Ex said above me, those Officer positions are highly coveted, as is the entire team. NBP is one of the functions the Navy does, but it is also a very, very small part of Navy life.

    Military Discounts List

I don't know about McDonald's, but I do know that some hotels and some car rental companies will give you the "Canadian Government" rate. You do techincally work for the Federal Government once in the CF, so if you ever have to go away on business, when booking your room, you ask for the...

    Okay, whats next- after ACS

^ I haven't received the offer yet. My application is in, and is waiting for the selection boards. I'm HOPING I'll be on the January BOTC if everything goes according to plan. Of course, this is the CF, so it probably won't. But, you have to stay positive. It's what gets me up in the...

DEO CELE Question - high demand officer positions

I totally agree. Don't just pick something for the sake of it. You have an Engineering Degree, so you really have lots of options in the CF.

You should check this video out as well. It was taken onboard HMCS Regina during OP APOLLO. Shows some great Naval Boarding Party footage: http://www.combatcamera.dnd.ca/video/!2003/arabian_gulf/vid_apollo_e.htm :cdn:

    Have yet another question??

From my personal experience, they brought me in to sign all the paperwork, and gave it all to me there. Although, the safest way to handle this would be just to call your recruiter and ask if they plan to send anything else in the mail to you.

    Am I a good DOE(R) candidate?

This is all pretty much academic as far as I'm concerned, and really up to the selection boards. We can debate on whether you're a good candidate until Christmas... But the only way you will find out for sure is if you apply.   ;)

DEO CELE Question - high demand officer positions

I would concur with MARS. I know for a fact they snap up DEO candidates like candy. I would also suggest Logistics. They always seem to have a steady need for good candidates.

    Am I a good DOE(R) candidate?

You would be a great candidate for the Regular Force, let alone the reserves. Do you have any idea what you would like to do in the CF? I'd say with your MA in Communications you'd be a good candidate for Public Affairs. But like my colleague Casing said above me, go wander in to a CFRC and...

    Defending Canadian Arctic Sovereignty

What General Mackenzie said: "In other words, get it on the record [so that] in the future, if we're challenged, we have a record of taking this issue seriously. It fulfills a purpose, it puts down a marker, and from a geopolitical point of view, it's certainly important." Quite simply, it...

    Okay, whats next- after ACS

I think I almost prefer that. Getting moved around every couple of years isn't exactly the best way to build a stable life. Especially if I ended up in Comox or Pat Bay. I'd be like, "You guys are moving me over my dead body."  ;D

    Naval ranks and careers

Just a quick note on your reply above... When you have your interview with your PSO (Personnel Selection Officer... One of the guys who makes decisions about you), and you even breathe the word "Med School", I'm pretty sure he'll jump all over that, and talk to you about MOTP. The advice on...

I want your job, Zoomie. Flying Buffalo's. Lucky bastard.   ;D I'd prefer Multi to anything. Especially SAR multi. Buffalo's, Herc's, Aurora's... Whatever. Strap a pair of wings on to a washing machine... Let's go.  ;D

Inch - Did you want choppers, or did the CF pretty much tell you that's where you were going? I have heard to expect choppers, and if I get selected for multi-engine or jets, then that's just a bonus. I only ask because I'm not too fond of choppers, but I'm sure you will educate me otherwise.   8)

    Okay, whats next- after ACS

First of all, I may be joining you on that January BOTC as a Pilot. So we may end up spending a lot of time together.   ;D 1. Your medical still has to be signed off, make its way to the selection boards, and all paperwork has to make its way back to your recruiting center, finalize...

    Naval ranks and careers

I know, it's just I spent a lot of time on an army base, and no one on the base had a clue what my rank was. I got "Private", "Corporal", "Seaman", "Navy guy", "Sorry, I don't know your rank". I was always used to correcting them. Which is very true, and even then I'm sure those will be a hard...
