    Colonel Commandant

It's definitely still Major-General (Retired) J.A. MacInnis CMM, MSC, CD. As for a bio, you can call the the Regt HQ in the museum building at Shilo (that's where artillery.net comes from).

    Kneecapping the Troops

"Now what, I wonder, would Prof. Attaran have us do with these prisoners? I doubt he has in mind shooting them on the spot, as we are fully entitled to do, given their status as non-uniformed combatants." Umm, does this guy have the revised edition of the Geneva Conventions I've heard so much...

Question for 1 RCHA and flag at half mast-26May06

From the RCA Standing Orders: The Royal Canadian Artillery Standard is intended for ceremonial use only. It is not carried on parade. It is not broken and shall be flown from flagpoles. The occasions when it will be flown are at the discretion of artillery commanders, but in general will be: a...

    CSOR manpower needs part 2

They attempted to voluntell one of the para coys to join CSOR and the boys wouldn't have it. And it wasn't through changing the colour of their hat, I'm guessing. Unless it's WWIII, forcing units en masse to rebadge makes you look like the only guy at the dance without a partner...desperate and...

    IED report

Anyone know where I could find the format for an IED report? Is it like the BOMBREP/SHELREP or is it something completely different...or do we even have one yet? Ta.

Just how much can we handle?

Awesome. Lucky someone tells us what's going on - if the standdown is O Gp-grade material, then I'm going to skip CMTC 06 and get loaded on to that "Painting With Watercolours" course at the local community college. ;)

Just how much can we handle?

Most news stories in the last couple months have remarked that we're stretched thin deployment-wise. True enough. Now, the MND's come out and said we won't be deploying anywhere else "in the near future" (however long that is)...

    Officer Language Requirements

Well, that, and if you're an Anglo in the army and get posted to Valcartier... ;)

    The Next Minister of Defense

Because I'm on PATA and have the time for things like this, I did some surfing, and unless the Internet is wrong, O'Connor is the first long-serving army guy to be MND since, like, forever (Lamontagne and Danson were the last and fought in WWII). That seems like it might be a big deal...choosing...

    Second Lang Training St.Jean

The timetable changed a few times when I was there, but it's pretty much 8-4 with ample time for lunch, a couple breaks, and a grande pause for tea and toast on Fridays. Homework depends on your teacher - some give out a lot, others trust you to hit the livres yerself... For the army candidates...

    Even-numbered TFs

Now that the CF's had its "downtime" and we're "ready" to field two task forces at once, is there anything impending for the even-numbered TFs (2-06, 4-06, 2-07, 4-07)? Maybe Haiti/maybe Sudan? I realize it's all conjecture until boots are on the ground, but does anyone want to start a...

    Second Lang Training St.Jean

rf - I agree with HCA123 - I've haven't heard of anyone doing SLT anywhere but St-Jean. Never hurts to ask, I suppose. If you do want to bring the family, you have two options: finding a place in St-Jean proper, or requesting a PMQ...unfortunately, there aren't any at the Mega. (There are a few...

Flags at half mast outside CFB Gagetown.

Gosh, it's a shame Lepine didn't consider himself an egalitarian as well... ::)

    Deployment duration

A slight hijack, but as the subject is "deployment duration"... My WO, who only rarely lies to me, swears tour lengths are all being lengthened to a full year. I'm sure there's at least a grain of truth to this - anybody know who it's going to affect? Cheers.

    Next DP1 NCM Artillery course

Anyone know the next Artillery DP1 NCM Artillery course dates in Gagetown (Oct or Nov)? I know they were moved to the right a few weeks ago... Thanks, Ralph.

    Living outside of geographical boundaries

Anyone ever applied to live outside of their base's geographical boundaries? Is it a quick sign-off from the CO or a long, drawn-out PITA? What do you lose if you do decide to live more than, in my case, 27km away from Shilo? Ta.

1RCHA change of command, last time M109's on parade?

Would 24 brand-new M777's make everyone cheer up a bit? Mmmm...Excalibur... Of course, we still need something to pull them...

    Promotions in the CAF [Merged]

I'll be in the window for a promotion in a few months (taking for granted I pass Ph. IV ;)), but that timing coincides with my anniversary date and move to another incentive level. My questions are: If getting promoted drops you to the basic incentive level at that new rank, would I remain at...

    Strange situation..

Howdy - yeah, B2Fs answer sounds right, IMHO. I don't think DEOs ever go on the summer BOTP, or not often, mostly just RMC cadets. And the Sept. one started last week, so next year is the earliest they've got...I think I got my offer in June for September, so getting it in Sept. for Jan. is...

    SLT living rules

Howdy - there are a few rentable rooms in the Mega for family members/significant others - some of the guys on course have rented them and they're cheaper than the motels in town. But reservations far in advance are recommended. And no pets, as the other guys were saying. Cheers, Ralph.
