Attempted assassination of Donald Trump 13 July 2024

It's much too early to know who the shooter was and what, or who, was behind him but there is quite a lot of speculation that he was Antifa. I don't think anyone could know that for sure at present, but if it does turn out to be true then presumably there will be a crackdown on that particular...

Attempted assassination of Donald Trump 13 July 2024

Not quite sure what you mean - but it clearly was an assassination attempt. I wouldn't expect we will know who was behind it for at least a day or two (perhaps ever), but obviously someone was.

Attempted assassination of Donald Trump 13 July 2024

Looks like former President Trump just survived an assassination attempt. Things are getting very crazy south of the border and I shudder to think what might have happened had he been seriously wounded, or worse. I hope this lowers the political temperature down there - though I doubt it.

    Interview prep for infantry.

I'm in the same boat as you, interview coming up and also for Officer. Very curious myself - but my understanding is that interview content and questions are strictly confidential and I don't think people will or are allowed to share much in the way of that stuff here. Best of luck, mate.

Updating application with travel & status

Hi all, I'm a potential recruit for the CAF - Army, Officer - with an application somewhere in the recruitment process. If I take a vacation outside Canada in the meantime, is it a case of contacting the recruiter to add the dates & location of the trip to my existing details of foreign...

    Security clearance

My understanding is that the CFAT doesn't have an expiration date. (I don't know this - I'm also in the recruiting stage, but that is what I've heard. Don't know about having to repeat the fitness/medical either, but I suppose if it was a year or two later perhaps they re-do those.

    A Deeply Fractured US

"It should also not be denigrated or called into question if a decision doesn’t go the way one wants it to" While I understand the nuance of what you mean by this (and I agree with you) this is of course the basis of the entire concept of an appeals system.

    A Deeply Fractured US

Well, it matters. Take yourself, for example. You are convinced of his guilt, without actually having any real notion of what you think he is guilty of. You are just convinced of his guilt - and apparently on a somewhat emotional level. If the jurors are of your same mindset, then the...

    A Deeply Fractured US

This is the very thing I find to be very dubious about the case. Nobody seems to be able to state in words what the three crimes were. "a tax crime, and the other two were each a federal and state election crime, respectively" comes closer than anything else I've heard - but is still extremely...

    A Deeply Fractured US

Brad says: "Merely falsifying business records is a misdemeanour. Falsifying with intent to commit or conceal another crime is what elevates the charge to felony" What I am interested in finding out is what the crime he was accused of having falsified records with the intent to commit or...

    A Deeply Fractured US

And what was the crime that Trump was accused of attempting to commit or conceal?

    A Deeply Fractured US

I'm not sure either - but my understanding is that a jury must be unanimous in New York to convict. Perhaps someone can clarify. There is also the issue of an offence that is in fact a misdemeanour offence being tried as a crime - I believe this is the first time for this in New York. Again...

    A Deeply Fractured US

Uhm.... the requirement for a jury to be unanimous.

    A Deeply Fractured US

"The jury did not have to agree unanimously on predicate crimes; the prosecution didn't have to prove (NY law) that such a crime was actually committed - just that Trump intended to conceal something" Interesting how the usual conventions of US law can be dropped if a Presidential candidate who...

    What should i do next?

What I did at that point is email the specific recruiters at each unit I wanted to apply to, then made an appointment to meet them in person. I spoke to three of them and a few weeks later they called me to do the CFAT and physical test. Now it is back to waiting for a few months. You can...

    Over 40 to old?

Congratulations! I'm in the application process myself right now and early 40's. To be honest, I'm not worried about the age aspect at all, really. Glad you made it.

    Incredibly underweight

I would say go for the medical. You can build up your weight and fitness over time. They saw you (I assume) in the interview and weren't concerned about your physical condition, right? Have you tried, or do you use, protein shakes? If you do, stop doing that. That will make you lose weight. The...

I really want to apply to be a reserve once I receive my PR and need advice.

You're very welcome to do so. Never know, we may end up joining round about the same time

How difficult is it to switch occupations while at RMC?

Good to know, thank you. I would most likely be doing several years Res before (possibly) requesting to change to Reg. (Several years on a part-time Reserve schedule, mind - so including training courses that may only total 6-8 months of work)
