If we change government systems I would like to go to the Swiss Federal system. It would work well for what we already have established (provinces are basically cantons). Otherwise I would rather stick with what we have.
This system would likely work quite well for Canada and it’s competing...
Prices don’t have to jack up. The US and Canada are net exporters. We don’t have to participate on the global oil market to secure ourselves. We choose to, there is a difference.
I would disagree with the murder and manslaughter charges. He did not kill anyone himself, that is the actions of his son. He did not council his son to kill anyone, he isn't a accessory. The reckless conduct charges make sense though, as his actions absolutely fall under it.
The fact military or former military members are debating whether sinking a unarmed ship without providing a opportunity to surrender is a good thing, should tell you much about how the general public will react to such a move.
If the US wants to be successful in governmental change they need...
There is different ways to achieve the same result. The same water which softens the potato hardens the egg.
If the goal is to keep the public turned against the government and want to overthrow them with someone that is in the US interest, excessive or cruel acts aren’t necessarily the best...
If thats the case the US should be bombed into the ground as well. Kinda hard for the US to stand on the high ground when they are guilty of the same if not more.
Just because it doesn’t require a invitation to surrender doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be offered.
Same thing for soldiers on land, surrender or die is not a requirement but it is a honourable thing to offer.
At this point considering the US and Israel are already violating international law...
There is a difference between fear of being engaged in combat and recognizing that any sort of resistance is a immediate and pointless death sentence. Pointless suicide missions for the sake of suicide missions don’t win wars, or even help your cause.
Giving up the ship gives them the ability...
Reducing the age limit to 16 isn’t ‘ruining’ the program it would be removing a conflict of interest between national defense and a youth program.
Wanting quantified outputs is important to me wishing to fund the program.
So one is taxpayer funded and run and one is expected to survive off of their own funds? Scouts also ends before 16.
To me Cadets needs to pick a lane, either its a youth program (which to me youth is generally 16 or under) or it is a pipeline for recruitment.
If it is just a youth program...
I did scouts, and many of the skills I learned there benefited me in my military service. It has also benefited me a fair bit in my civilian life. A excellent program which is unfortunately dying.
Your right it doesn’t exist to primarily put people in the Reserves, my question is why does it...
1) I think the amount you lose to choosing to carry on with Cadets is greater than the amount you would lose by cutting loose at 16.
2) If it isn’t a military program how would it sour them? At the end of the day we need to decide if we want a military themed daycare or if we want to actually...
Alternatively why do we keep Cadets until they are 18? Why not end the program when they turn 16 and have them branch into the Reserves if they wish to keep going?
Basically keep it as it is for younger cadets (basically a bit more military-esque ‘scouts’) but at 16 they can choose to get out...
Do they even have the bodies to run anywhere near that? Last I heard on the sub fleet they were just about at the point of press ganging people into it.
Alternatively the government already knows who is a citizen. It should just be a matter of registering once online, (like Canada) showing a government issued ID (dvrs licence, etc.) when going to vote which is cross referenced with the pre-existing voter list, and away you go.
Intentionally...
