What book are you reading now?

So, it's fiction, but the epilogue is a commentary by the former president? I'll have to see if I can sneak it under the tree for my father this Christmas.

    Editorial Opinion

It's interesting to me that while I have substantial ground to quibble with you over the definition, consequences, and function of religion, you are not entirely wrong about it being inherently polarizing. After all, one of the earliest functions of religious belief (going back to the...

Federal government to declare new statutory holiday re residential school legacy

Easiest thing to name it: Reconciliation Day. With a name like that, there are plenty of other uses for it in addition to the originally stated goal. How many people have inane disputes which destroy friendships, and spend years regretting not reaching out to reconcile, for example?

Federal government to declare new statutory holiday re residential school legacy

I honestly can't say if this is a wise idea or not. On one hand, it would potentially ensure that a difficult part of Canadian history is never truly forgotten. On the other, it strikes me as the political equivalent of picking at a scab over a still healing wound.

Toronto: Love it or hate it?

I had just finished high school, and was due to start college in two weeks. I will absolutely remember that day, because I was volunteering with my mother's class at a water park (4-5 year olds), and my mother dislocated one of her thumbs going down a water slide. The power went out roughly ten...

    New Ontario Government 2018

Might be a silly question, but how on earth does the province have the power to reduce the number of municipal Councillors?

    US vs Canada

Considering the apparent reality that about 1/20th of the population have something of a psychotic reaction to pot, I do have to wonder what that might lead to once it becomes legal and thus more widespread?

Saudi Arabia expels Canadian ambassador for urging release of activists

That last bit is rather alarming. Is there documentation of this? Regardless, I do wonder - would the response from KSA be any less severe if the comments made on Twitter were instead made in the Commons?

Toronto: Love it or hate it?

The only thing keeping me from having a general positive attitude towards Toronto stems from my lengthy service volunteering with people with disabilities. Take a walk down Queen Street, and count the number of shops with ramps, as opposed to steps, and you get the general idea. My sister-in-law...

    Hemingways' Men at War.

    On Political Correctness

A thought on Political Correctness, drawn from a personal anecdote. After I graduated from Bible College with my bachelor's degree in Religious Education, my family held something of a celebration of the fact. Beyond several members of my extended family, we had invited a number of my friends...

    The US Presidency 2018

An opinion I voiced before the election in 2016 was that it seemed to me that Trump had a particular function in American political discourse which is not unlike a course of radiation and chemotherapy in medical treatment. The problem is, what he was in fact trying to treat wasn't cancer.

Physical Fitness (Jogging, Diet, Cardiovascular, and Strength )

It's kind of interesting just how physically intensive caring for my 8 1/2 month old niece has been, considering the amount of heavy lifting involved - carting around a bag of baby supplies that at this point weighs more than the actual baby (got to love the paranoid instincts of a new father -...

Saudi Arabia expels Canadian ambassador for urging release of activists

A thought: If the equivalent person in the United States made the tweets/comments that set off this situation, it's unlikely that Saudia Arabia would have responded the same way. That's not anything remarkable, and has been pretty much stated in numerous places. No, my thought is that it seems...

    Conservatism needs work 2.0

Peterson strikes me as a liberal in the most classical of sense - the kind of person politicians dislike regardless of any political leanings.

    Canada-US Trade Relations

Well, it *was* part of a batch that was recalled, I later found out - after returning to Canada. Thankfully no lasting impact on my health.

    Canada-US Trade Relations

Speaking on the dairy issue, I care less about the supply dynamics and more about the quality standards - the US uses an entirely different set of rules than we do, and the last time I was in the US, I got sick from milk which by their standards was perfectly safe to drink.

Here’s What To Do If A Border Guard Wants To Search Your Phone

Much as I thought - when I posed the thought experiment to the instructor of that course last night, his simple response was: Anyone who did that deserves what will happen.

Verdun is an excellent game, though it's WWI.

How much can a F2P Game earn?

Hey, a question I'm actually qualified to speak with authority on. I've mentioned elsewhere that I run a rather sizable digital business. Currently, I'm the Business Director for Missing Worlds Media, the developers of City of Titans (still in development). While it's a comic book MMO title, and...
