UWO Prof Suggests Restricting Military Research

I can't image how many everyday products that we use everyday that were initially developed through defence research. I wonder what the engineering faculty members think that a professor from the media (journalism) department opposes part of their funding.

Peaceniks Try Direct Mail on Vandoos Destined for AFG

Sure, we'll both go together, North Bay to Quebec City is only ... (unless your're from Timmins, then I'll be the guy at the North Bay By-pass)  :blotto: Nah.. that wouldn't be a good idea. It would be like shoveling horse sh**. You end up stinky at the end of the ordeal.

Worth the Read - The Young Soldier - 1956

I don't know if this is what you are referring to but, My father told me a story about a base commander (or whoever the big cheese was) ordered the pay clerks to issue all the pay in two dollar bills. This was in response to the town complaining about the way soldiers contributed to the local...

Clean energy claim: Aluminum in your car tank

You're right (now I remember) and that's why I almost failed chemistry 5 years ago in highschool.  :( To work at maximum efficiency, wouldn't the water have to start pure before it goes into the engine? If not, then it would be a good way to purify water.

Quelle horreur! Bush administration wants Law of the Sea Treaty ratified

The American position has been around much longer than even his father. http://dsp-psd.communication.gc.ca/Collection-R/LoPBdP/BP/bp322-e.htm#a.%20The%20Gulf%20of%20Maine%20Dispute(txt) We were able to bi-laterally solve this difference of opinions in the Gulf of Maine, I can't see why not...

Clean energy claim: Aluminum in your car tank

That's my problem with this system and many proposals that use hydrogen, they often use water which is essential for life, which we have limited supplies.

Divining the right role, capabilities, structure, and Regimental System for Canada's Army Reserves

I know this thread's last reply is a little old, but how do units that are service arms merge with combat arms. I have indirectly heard that the Algonquin Regiment in North Bay and 26 Service (North Bay) Battalion were combining some of their operations. I asked this question in a low visibility...

Opium in Afghanistan: A bad trip

In my opinion to get rid of the crop sucessfully, there has to be a compairable substitute in terms of economic returns and ease of growth for the poor farmers or else they won't buy into any drug control measures.

Combat units merging with support units?

That was exactly the root of my question and I guess the answer, because I had heard the rumour that 26 Svc. battalion was merging with the Algonquin Regiment in North Bay. I wonder with this pairing up, how if anything will hapen to the Irish Regiment in Sudbury as it is the other militia unit...

Combat units merging with support units?

I was just wondering, I've heard of two different combat arms merging (ie. armoured with a infantry unit) and two (more) different units merging like all of the artillery batteries in 38 CBG coming under a single command structure; but I've looked around, (mainly on regiments.org) and haven't...
