"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

I have troops who were just issued pistols but no holsters because there were none available. Regulator, I assume your with the boys from out west because around 2 Bde it's issued vests only as of right now and seems it will be that way for 3-08.

Troops carrying pistols outside the gate

The "someone" has two crossed sword and a leaf on his chest. It's more than rumor. If your a MCpl or below in our unit and go into QM to sign for a pistol for roto you will be told it's now policy that pistols are issued to Sgts and above only. As for whether I was ordered I guess if someone...

Troops carrying pistols outside the gate

We were told the other day that it is the opinion of "someone" in Ottawa that there are too many pistols in theater and they are going to be restricted to Sgt and above only. While i'm sure that rule will be gotten around by some (it wont apply to myself for example) it does make me wonder why...

    Safariland 6004 BHP, Holster Mod

I finally got to qualify on the Sig the other day (pre-deployment) and I have to say i love shooting that pistol. The decocking lever would IM very HO cut the ND situation greatly amongst sadly undertrained (myself included) shooters. My only complaint was that we qualified on P225s rather than...

Conflict in Darfur, Sudan - The Mega Thread

True. I guess I just assumed it would be one of those "loans" where we never saw them again.. ;D Seems to me that the ANA could have made better use of them than their current task.....but that's a different subject all together. ;)

Conflict in Darfur, Sudan - The Mega Thread

I was not aware that it was a finite deployment, I thought we had given them away. Anyone know what is supposed to happen to the Grizzlies after Dec?

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

I'll happily take my old 64 pattern over with me this spring. I just wish they would get me a bag that actually carries a radio, spare batteries, spare ammo, med supplies and water.....comfortably.  :crybaby: Guess I'll just have to hunt up my own. Suggestions???  ;D

TCCCS not compatible with US radios?!

Weekendsig, I have to disagree with some of your points. I dont think the 522 system is in anyway user friendly espescialy when in a vehicle LAN and combined with SAS, Athena or a RAU and that poses a problem for soldiers that are requiered to use it on a daily basis and who are counting on it...

Skydex Helmet Pad Kit - LOTS of pictures

Dont know if it's overkill or not but I used alot of disks in mine. At first I used 1 per small pad and 2 for the big center pad but I lost the big center pad in Wainwright this Maple Guardian and as a result added more velcro. I have had issues with one of the smaller pads falling out as well...
