Saudis sending Canadian-made LAVs to combat Yemeni Rebels

IMHO the CAF's shouldn't expect anything if JT cancels the Saudi contract. GDLS will simply move Saudi LAV production to the states. GDLS & Canada lose credibility buy not fulfilling the contract. GDLS may consider closing down Canadian LAV production entirely. Canada out 1 billion in...

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

HMCS Northwest Territories and HMCS Nunavut would be next, but IMHO navy will be lucky to get 10 ships. Halifax class was to have had a third batch of 6 ships, IIRC Mulroney cancel third batch.

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

DeWolf for Coast guard? if there is a gap between construction of 5 navy DeWolf's and Type 26 construction, could that gap be filled by building 1 or 2 DeWolf's for CCG, would DeWolf's be of any use to CCG ice-breaking in St. Lawrence etc?

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

IMHO CSC will be Province class. 10 Provinces 10 ships, maybe 2 more Yukon and Labrador but I doubt more than 10 will be built, indeed it might be wise to go with Province class as government would certainly look bad building less than 10 ships.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

If Australia moves towards an all F35 fleet, Canada could buy used Australian Super Hornets 24 F and 12 G models in RAAF service.

Why Not Canadian Amphib/Marine Capability? (merged)

Shame Harper didn't pull the trigger and buy the 2 Mistral's building in France for Russia, sold to Egypt for a bargain. HMS Ocean is apparently on the sales list.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

I think it more likely that F35C gets canned replaced with SH, while A and B model production continues.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

I hope Canada buys the last C-17 from Boeing, combine with SH purchase.

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

How many a/c did Embraer KC390 or Leonardo C-27J offer for FWSAR and how did there cost compare, or is everyone sworn to secrecy.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

E's F's or G's I hope these 18 a/c have AESA and conformal fuel tanks.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

18 SH better than nothing, while there in talks with Boeing they should snap up the last unsold C17. If purchased these SH could be future Snowbird a/c when a 5th gen fighter is in service. Hopefully the SH will be fitted with conformal fuel tanks.

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

Jack of all trades, if the price is right probably a good pick up, operate with civilian crew just like the Resolve program. IIRC Moresby/Anticosti had limited aor capability. On a side note IMHO the Berlins, although an excellent design, there build in Canada cost is prohibitive  perhaps it...

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

New Zealand is looking for an ice strengthened vessel to patrol the Southern ocean seems a perfect fit for a De Wolfe class vessel. Canada should make an attractive offer, even if it means allowing NZ the first built hull, these are the kinds of things that need to be done or at least attempted...

    CP-140 Aurora

IMHO Canada should upgrade the entire Aurora fleet instead of just the current 14 a/c, even return the Arcturus to service, doing so should enable of the types service life.

RUMINT of Canada wanting more C-17's

If the last C-17 is still unsold Canada should snap it up ASAP, a fleet of 6 a/c of this size would serve Canada well.

    FELEX - Halifax Class Modernisation

Canada should be trying to sell the Halifax class off at a rate of 1 per year, funds from sale used to bring forward CSC. When CSC has totally replaced the Halifax's, the oldest of the new CSC should be offered for overseas sales, thus enable CSC construction to continue. I don't believe Canada...

    CF-188 Hornet, Canada's jet fighter

I see no harm at all in a split fleet, would far rather see Canada purchase 2 squadrons of fighters know followed my 2 squadrons of a different type 15 years down the road and avoid the block obsolescence the fleet currently faces. Remember when CF-18 tasking was increased due USAF problems with...

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

Boeing still has 1 unsold C17 IIRC, that CAF should be purchase to argument current fleet. Great shame the idiots in Ottawa didn't snap up those Mistral's when they had the chance, could have passed them off as DART ships.

    Purchase HMS Ocean?

Don't we have 6 or 7 ex-us-101 that could be made airworthy for an Ocean air group?
