    Pool of Antonovs for NATO?

Australia C-17's were purchased with funds from federal budget surplus, and not from defence budget, Canada should do the same thing.

    Pool of Antonovs for NATO?

Australia has bought 4 C-17's, they have similiar military situation to Canada large land mass long way to some of there deployments. IIRC 4 C-17's are replacing 6 C-130H's. IMHO Canada should bite the bullet and buy 6 C-17's to replace 18 C-130E's, 12 A400M's and 18 C-27's to come later...

    Dutch Apaches

IIRC the USMC is soon to order about 150 new Ch-53's, the Chinook has out sold the Sea Stallion but the latter is a much larger helo perhaps overkill for some nations.

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

I suspect the 2 Anotovs may be Canada's contribution to NATO's heavy lift plan.

    Interim Sealift

An LSL is a basic vessel built close to commerical standards rather than complex design like a sub or frigate. Almost any vessel/machine is better to run every day rather than be placed in storage like the upholders, maybe the Brits should give us the ship as compensation for the subs. An LSL is...

    Interim Sealift

The RN RFA Sir Galahad is soon to pay off IMHO such a ship would make a excellent interim sealift vessel until the navy commissions the new support ships, both flight deck and forward vehicle deck are strenghtened for Chinook op's and a fair number of vehicles and supplies can be embarked...

    Dutch Apaches

I see no harm in acquiring a few Apaches, when forces deploy to a hot spot nice to a few of your own birds, earlier on this thread one of the poster's recommended paying off ADATS to pay for the Apaches IIRC the Apache fire control systems shares components with the ADATS. RAF operates there...

I'm new here never been in the military but for 20 years operated a few trucks in a company I owned started out with 10 ton payload vehicles but in the final years operated 20 ton payload on road of course, IMHO the forces need to be doing more with less ie fewer 2 1/2 ton type's more 5 or 10...
