VAC Return to Lifetime Pensions Discussion

I don't think that issue falls anywhere in a grey area, for a couple of reasons.  The RCL is not mentioned in the NDA.  Even the Legion says it "is a not-for-profit organization funded by membership fees, and operating without government grants or financial assistance from the government for our...

Quebec Gov't Requests CAF support to address flooding

VAC Return to Lifetime Pensions Discussion

Remember those lies and innuendoes I was talking about?  We got one right here. Mike Blais didn't jump on any platform.  How do I know this?  I'm an admin on their group, and I can personally tell you that myself and the other admins were instructed to delete any political posts or comments...

VAC Return to Lifetime Pensions Discussion

As someone who has been heavily involved in Canadian Veterans Advocacy (CVA) activities for several years, I'm personally getting a little tired of the lies and innuendo being spread about the organization. I have personally invested hundreds of hours in direct assistance to veterans who have...

    Increase font in quotes

I could've sworn there was a menu setting to set the forum appearance...one of the settings was how many posts per page you wanted.  Darned if I can find it now. I think the quoted font size is one less than whatever your default font size is.  But there ought to be a place where you can set...

Ordered "to get a phone" / Contact Information [Merged]

That's just wrong. An order to provide your personal cell phone number is about as lawful as an order to a CF member who doesn't own a cell phone to go out and buy one for all the reasons mentioned above.

Ordered "to get a phone" / Contact Information [Merged]

CoC:  Give me your cell number. Bloggins:  Here is my home number. CoC:  Is that what I asked for? Bloggins:  No, but it is good enough. COC:  With your land line can I send a quick text during the work day/at lunch to you if I need you to do something or need to pass some information on...

Ordered "to get a phone" / Contact Information [Merged]

I would question the lawfulness of a command that directs a member to provide their cellphone number, when a suitable landline number with voicemail is available.

    Retro Pay & Allow 1Apr 2014 - 1Apr 2017

You really have a hate-on for the Public Service, based upon your post history.  If the 17 unions (not just PSAC) didn't reject the Conservative government's offers, and waited it out to see what the Liberals could do, you'd be enjoying a pay increase based on 0.5% per year for four years right...

    Retro Pay & Allow 1Apr 2014 - 1Apr 2017

More often than not, the increases that the CF gets as a result of being tied to the average of the PS increases results in a raise better than the rate of inflation.  And the increases are always made retroactively. Why would you settle for something less?  It's money in the bank.

If it asked you for 5 bucks, then you clicked on ATI Request, and not Privacy Act request.  There is no charge for a Privacy Act request, which covers requests for your own files within government.  Not sure what they'll do with it - I would call them at toll free 1-888-272-8207, and ask their...

The "informal access" method of obtaining your files depends largely on the workload of the unit that you're seeking your files from.  If they're not swamped, the informal access method is the preferred method.  If they're swamped, the task of copying the files is relegated to DAIP using the...

I advised the OP of the formal access method (which also happens to be within the system, by the way).  I described the process you're referring to ("informal access"), which suggests I've read the policy and gotten guidance from DAIP on it.  You disagreed.  Feel free to look up the process...

I hate to break it to you, but many MIR records sections are understaffed, overworked and severely backlogged.  What you are describing is called "informal access", and they are under no obligation to provide it in a timely manner, or at all for that matter.  You'll note that the OP mentioned...

Temporary Duty ( TD ) merged

He's travelling 800 km, so it's safe to say he's travelling outside his normal place of duty, so Chapter 7 applies.  It looks like 7.40 and 7.41 are in play - and I do see some rules that kick in for Class A reservists. However, this is how I'd play it.  If you're not going to use POMV, how...

Temporary Duty ( TD ) merged

It's been a while since I had to worry about this, but I didn't think CFTDI distinguished between Reserves and Regs?  And my memory isn't what it used to be, but did I not see something saying that if you were travelling on CF business, you were on duty, and if you were on leave, you were on...

    Retro Pay & Allow 1Apr 2014 - 1Apr 2017

Our ratification vote isn't until next month, and even then they've told us with Phoenix, not to expect to see the increases and back pay processed until the end of the year.  We're only a small union; I'm not sure how things are going on a broader scale across the Public Service, or if there is...
