    AK-47‘s ?????

I was at Camp Alamo yesterday and had a chance to talk with a lot of the Canadian troops, the single most asked question to me was "Why do I like the AK?"  This type 2 has a milled receiver, chrome lined barrel and piston. After I cleared the weapon, I asked them to try the action and the...

Afghanistan, is it worth it- Cheating Spouse Thread

The better part of my first 20 years in the Military I was so saint, no excuses, I was the problem and the marriage ended, and my career was in limbo.  Later I met someone who picked me out of the gutter and cleaned me up, She gave me all the reasons to want and be good.  My career started to...

How to survive the Zombie Apocalypse

I will surround my house with Treadmills and wait for them to tire out. I have enough firearms and ammunition to last a long long time and my neighbours know when to come over and take part in the entertainment, I hope they bring popcorn. Cheers Pop

I was in the Ministry of Interior (Afghanistan) today to trade out 3 of our "Frankenguns" similiar as to what KevinB posted pictures of when I was escorted to their armoury to hand select the replacements. Sailors being sailors

I remember some of the best times I had in the military was when I was assigned to the ships... dam those sailors knew how to throw some good parties and some pretty good antics. Harmless as it was, I am sure it would not be approved of today. And not once did I get pregnant!!! Cheers Pop

    CSOR & JTF2 Recruiting

Prior to my retirement, I was on the circuit with JTF2, CSOR, CJIRU, and SOAS recruiters.  We would go to different bases and give presentations, followed by questions and answers, and pass on any applicable information for potential candidates to help prepare themselves. The website should have...

    Congo - Sudan Deployment?

The Congo, everything there wants to eat you... I was in Zaire, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, and Djboutii in the mid 90's. Our current Rwandian cook says that things have gotten a lot better there but as posted above, the political will and money for another large deployment is just not there. Cheers Pop

    AK-47‘s ?????

Depending on what your employers supply, it may only be an AK-47 and not a M4.  With any tool, it is up to you to learn how to use it effectively, learn is capabilities, learn it weaknesses.  There are pro's and con's to everything, as far as I am concerned, it is not sexy, it is not light, but...

I took my Close Protection course in the United States, I didn't want to wait so I paid for my own course, travel, and expenses. When I retired I went straight into Close Protection in Afghanistan and haven't looked back yet.  Cheers Pop

If you haven't been to Afghanistan shut up.

APS 2012 - Housing market in military driven communities

Having retired last last year in Pet, there were 600 other members retiring that month as well,  not sure how many were staying in the local area but to most of the people I talked too they were staying in Pet, which adds to less houses on the market. To add to this, the speculation of a new...
