    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

Would it be feasible to do that? Unfortunately, you're right, the perfect ship will never exist. But we can try to build the best possible. Settling for 2nd is never a good defence policy.

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

Thats my bad, I quoted the wrong thing. It was the 500 NM I was trying to get at. Just as a regular patrol, without prepostioned fuel, you would only be able to go out 250 NM. Thats not exactly a patrol ship. More a pleasure boat. With a gun or two.  ::) As well, if some "tin pot" navy can...

Complaint (& Response) About CF Recruiting Posters...

WTF, OVER.  ??? There are alcohol ads in the same shelters, go complain that these ads don't reflect being in a drunken stupor AND that they are visible to children. Some people are useless. This woman is one of them.

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

Why does it seem like we always plan to build half-assed boats? Edit: To clarify.

No, you just said that it was ridiculous considering that they charge the sender. ;D

    Sea Dragon Sea Scouts?

I've interacted with the "Sea Dragons" before while as a scout, and they have a decent program revolving around sailing/ the CYA Learn to Sail programme. However, the leadership (as of 4 years ago) were rather snobbish and stuck up. A friend of mine, who was a Scout Leader (read: adult...

    Cadets on Ship

Yup, there are still deployments for sea cadets. I had the opportunity to deploy aboard REGINA (IIRC) for a few weeks, transiting from Esq to Jpn, then to HK. Had to turn it down due to Diploma exams. It would have been an amazing experience.

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

Keeping in mind that I know very little about space requirements, personnel requirements, etc. (and as a civvie  ;)) I would want to see it have the capability to defend from, or if warranted, attack a belligerent submarine. At the very least, the capability to detect it, and have the proposed...

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

Agreed. As someone who will be coming on-line as MARS (hopefully) in the next few years, and considering my first ship might be one of these things, I DON'T like the notion it would be toothless. One thing that particularly has me tweaked is that it would have no ASW capability. In this day...

AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

The bean counters could just say "Screw it!, we're keeping the AORs." Then we would be in trouble. JSS>Nothing/AOR.

Need some help...looking for a Laptop

Alright, I'm going to take the ball away from Dell for a second here. I'm running a Lenovo T61 right now, I picked it up back in May for 1 200$, when Lenovo still had their "Buy More-Get More" deal on. My family has ALWAYS gone IBM and now Lenovo, and the machines are nice and reliable. I had a...

    F-22 or F-35

IIRC, Airbus pitched the idea that they would buy some Hercs for the CF to use, but they would worry about maintaining them. Once the A400M came online, the Hercs would be replaced. Again, Airbus would worry about the details.

    F-22 or F-35

Why dont we just sign a 2-part "super" contract with LockMart that details part 1 as temporary replacement using the Superhornet, and part 2 as permenant replacement with F-35? Part 1 would replace at 1:1 all combat and training aircraft, with only a few Superhornets as spares. After several...

    Your Degree and Your Trade

Obviously there are some limitations. I won't be able to be a Engineer in any element because I'm going towards an Arts degree.
