Australian navy's hunt for new sub to replace Collins class

Though Canada needs nuclear powered subs to effectively protect Canadian Arctic sovereignty, I doubt the US will sell us any. Plus the current gov't wouldn't want the political backlash from the anti-nuke supporters.

    Defending Canadian Arctic Sovereignty

Obviously wasn't being serious bud, the ;) was to make it obvious.:rolleyes::rolleyes: The Americans would throw a shit-fit if and try to block any serious attempt at Canada getting control of Greenland. (Not like there ever was one)

    Defending Canadian Arctic Sovereignty

Canada's negotiators were kind of timid when they decided to split the island in half. They should've said, "You can have the whole Island! Just one small thing, all you have to do is.....join Canada!" Greenland might have gone for it.;)

    Defending Canadian Arctic Sovereignty

Damn! No one listened to my idea of annexing Denmark. Not only would we have Greenland, but we could use their monarchy instead of Britain's. :p;)

A wall? Greenland is in NA, Canada needs to annex it. What are the Danes going to do? ;);)

Freedom Convoy protests [Split from All things 2019-nCoV]

You're probably correct, Quebec would be against losing any bit of territory (unless they were compensated somehow).

Freedom Convoy protests [Split from All things 2019-nCoV]

You are correct. Ottawa-Gatineau region should be made a separate Federal Capital Territory (following the example of Australia's ACT).

CAF Aviators needing homes sent to Habitat for Humanity.

The CAF (or more accurately, the Canadian gov't) was stupid to sell off most of (if not all) the off base housing in the early '70s. My family was in Moncton when this was happening and had to move out of our PMQ (that was being sold) and move into a much smaller house in the center of the...

7 May 2022 "Sinn Fein calls for united Ireland debate after historic election win"

Didn't say it would be easy. There would have to be a will on both sides, which there is not right now.

7 May 2022 "Sinn Fein calls for united Ireland debate after historic election win"

The island is whole. Just 2 political entities on it and , as I said, no reason why they can't work out some sort of political union (if they really want to).

7 May 2022 "Sinn Fein calls for united Ireland debate after historic election win"

There's actually only one Ireland, that's the island called Ireland. Anyone born one that island is Irish no matter what part they live in. The Republic of Ireland is just the republican country that covers part of the island of Ireland. People need to stop confusing political entities with...

Freedom Convoy protests [Split from All things 2019-nCoV]

Maybe it's time to consider making the Ottawa-Gatineau region into a National Capital Territory (or Federal Capital Territory) with the RCMP responsible for the policing. Yes, would take a referendum for the change, so not likely to happen, but wouldn't hurt Canadians to have that conversation.

    Liberal Minority Government 2021 - 2025

Not too surprising. My nieces and nephews tend to reflect those views. Not too enamored with democracy (most don't bother to vote) and seem more open to more authoritarian type governance (leaders or parties who would get things done more directly instead of wasting so much time with argument...

Just go back to 21 yrs. old being the legal adult age (the way it was before the baby boomers demanded it be lowered to 18).

    Canadian River Class Destroyer Megathread

I'm wondering why they are still called frigates if they're going to be twice as big (displacement) than the current ones? What would be the traditional name for a ship of this size, destroyer, cruiser?
