    Ex Valiant Guardian @ Wainright

And cpls will be leading sections... again. Most of them try hard, but lack of experience hurts... and it hurts learning of the soldiers under their command.

    Ex Valiant Guardian @ Wainright

So I'm guessing the new guys fresh off their BIQ or whatever equivalent is not going to Wainwright then? Well, I always thought having the CAC right after ARC was good way for new guys to practice what they learned over the summer at an ex away from course settings, as well begin to get...

    Dion on Afghanistan

You gotta give the afghan farmers a viable alternative to poppy cultivation before you go on and destroying their crop. Or else, you're going to just piss them off and more of them will turn to Taliban and warlords for protection and against Karzai govt and NATO. Gotta keep their belly full...

It's not what you say, but how you said it. I don't want to sound anal or anything, but we've had enough of regs vs res BS in this forum. -DS

The General Hillier Years. The Merged Superthread

That was the Martin Liberals. If Bob Rae or even Ignatieff with all the weird comment he is making come to power, I doubt they want a... robust CDS.

Just remembered another good point. More different trades working with each other. Was good to have MPs and engineers attached to my platoon.

lol. My section was tasked to put up a fence all around Camp Bengal. Which brings me to first point. If you're going to do something, like putting up a fence, at least do it right, instead of one strand of wire, or not put one up at all. I agree as well. Camp Bengal was well organized and...

What not to do - No excuse BMQ tips [Merged]

    100. Don't feel bad or get angry for doing a little extra. Chances are someone else important is watching and taking notice. So what if your peers choose to be a little slack. Doesn't mean you have to be and more importantly, you know you're being the best soldier that you can be. 101. Everyone...

It'll most be interesting to try to integrate new troops fresh from summer training into 3 block war mode... which is something that is not taught in SQ/DP1. (Unless I'm missing some info)

Conflict in Darfur, Sudan - The Mega Thread

I dunno about you guys, but when I see this sort of EVIL happening and no one in the world seems to give a damn enough to do something about it, I get mad. Forget the politics for a second. Are the people of Darfur's lives worth less than any other lives in this world? What is our humanity...

    Forts are back in style

Interesting. Castles and forts were used as method of projecting permanent presence in an area. Could be more effective than using choppers to bring in troops whenever a presence is required. Only works because the insurgents don't have anything to hurt these forts...

I am about hairwidth away from pressing the Big Shiny Button called 'Thread Closed'. If it degenerates into waste of Bandwidth (btw female in military has been covered and beaten to death) I will close this. -HF, some staff guy
