‘I am a piper. A soldier has died, so I must play.’

Great article.  I brought my pipes with me to Mirage with the full intention of playing for the repats when they came through there.  You wont believe what I was told.... They opted for a recorded version of the pipes over the real thing.  Told me that they had rehearsed with the recording and...

    PERs : All issues questions...2003-2019

I quoted SHELLDRAKE!!'s post from many moons ago to comment on this whole issue.  My opinion is that the PER system should work just fine, provided that the people writing them are fair, and unbiased.  Case in point.  Immediate supervisors here used to sit in the O Group with the senior ranks...

    MPs in the field?

thought that would get a zipperhead going!...........lol.  I have all the respect for crewman and all combat arms in general.  I played infantry back in the days when my back and knee's could take the abuse.  Loved being a soldier and was of the belief that if you weren't wet, tired, dirty cold...

Call BS all you want, I live within my means my friend!  I work on an Air Force Base where LDA is just a three letter acronym.  I'm sure as hell not complaining about what I get now.  Offer me more?..............sure I'll take it, but I could care less about this whole LDA debacle.  I live a...

    MPs in the field?

Well I for one have spent many MANY nights out in the rain, manning defensive positions, bugging out of freshly dug shell scraps and enjoyed trenches half full of water while my armoured bretheren were nice and warm in their AFV's... And for the record, I could care less about LDA.

    MPs in the field?

Sorry to hear that George....rest assured, this is not the norm.  I along with many of my colleagues would have quite readily, got up and conducted traffic control in the intersection......its our job!

A very nice thing happened to me and my family

I remember just returning home last year and my furnace blew.  No heat, nothing....needless to say I was pissed as this was something I didnt want to deal with anytime soon.  So I called the local contractors to come out and bring it back to life.  I had my tans basically strewn about in the...

    The Congo (merged)

I was just in the Congo on tasking.  Quite the place.  Amongst some of the things that happened; - Police tried to extort money out of me twice. - had an assault rifle cocked and pointed at us. - witnessed a female beaten and presumeably raped afterwards. If we end up there in any capacity...
