    flag

Just ordered, and had sent, several air force flags to a Bud in A'stan. Ordered through the flag shop, in edmonton. Outstanding service, personable people, good price...I cannot say enough about how well they treated me.

    Question?

I too  grew up with the C1/SMG, and trusted them both. When the C7 came in, we were pretty leery. Lots of jamming stories from SE Asia, made by Mattel, etc By the time the reports came back in from the Recce competition overseas that they had shattered several stocks, we were all set to hate...

Old soldier's had enough! - Historical Perspective

Parkie, Easier to say than do, however I really try to keep things in perspective... As you pointed out, our ancestors risked (and gave) their lives so morons could say what they wanted to. No one says I have to listen.... Many Canadians may whine about what we do....but remember the...

Why no CF Air Power for A-Stan?

Duey, Re: ATO/CAS- close enough...well said. Re the article (link above) ...while I hate to agree with Lou (really really hate to agree), he too is close enough. Danged shame that we're not sending the Hornets.

No bikes in winter at 17 Wing because of THIS? Please, tell me its not true!

No bikes at 4 Wing either. I thought it was kinda stupid as well, but once I realised that car vs bike, the bike loses every time, big time, I thought maybe the rule wasn't too bad. When I factored in the poor roads (really bad up here), poor drivers, and a little bit of road rage, then it makes...

What should I do during OJT?

Take up short finals advice, it's good. As well, Trenton isn't that far down the road- see if you can get on a few flights there. Not sure how life goes now (been 30 years since I was on OJT myself) but back then @lt/OCdt's were allowed on most any flight- ad Trenton has some good ones...see the...

    New CF Fitness Policies Coming

I was in when BMI was instituted. Everyone I knew was in the danger zone (above 25 BMI) and most (me included) were at, or over 27. I was at 27 (considered well above weight). That was the summer I went a little nuts, and was running app 20 miles per day. I was on my 6A course, and had the...

    CF-104

Any of you old enough to have ever seen one fly? (104) Yer killin' me............. CFIT- there were some discussions on the low level mission and supersonic speeds.  Friend died in Europe )one of many) and his accident investigation revealed things that no one had thought of before. Reduced...

    White light on a weapon, a ???..............

Kevin, Agree 100% that an optic of some sort is the way to go, and ($$ permitting) I'll go down that road. However, in the meantime, I still have coyote's that are trying to get at pigs, goats, and chickens. (one way shooting gallery- my favourite). Granted that I'll have to learn all over again...

    White light on a weapon, a ???..............

    White light on a weapon, a ???..............

I installed a surefire light on my AR. With my head up and out of the (iron) sights I can see fine at about 75 yards (plenty of distance for me) . However, with my eyes into the sights I have a hail of a time acquiring the target. Do I need a brighter light? Maybe position the light...

Cancel MGS - Buy new Cockeril 105mm design (see link)...

Not to Hijack the thread, nor cause concern, but I had to jump in for a quick post on the origin of the tank. From my readings it had nothing to do with the Army. The navy developed the tank. (irrc....) A bright young Brit came up with an idea to break the trench stalemate. He was turned down...

    Nov 11 - Parade Requirement

Dress: if on parade, you'll know by now :) If not, then whatever you want. Dress uniform is fine, as are jeans. If you choose not to wear uniform, dresing "nicely" will convey some respect for the occasion. However, the important thing is to show up. Dress is secondary. Timings: show starts at...

Like leaving the winning lotto ticket in you pocket....

Lots of "I thinks" going on again, few "I know's": thought y'all knew better than that.   If you're going to state a fact, better make sure it IS factual. If it's an opinion, best to state that as well. This may seem inconsequential to the thread, but bear with me....... MDA/DH/MEA etc (how...

Like leaving the winning lotto ticket in you pocket....

Just so you know, his flight profile (from what the article wrote) sounded almost exactly like a "carrier break" (the approach that all carrier borne fighters fly prior to landing on a carrier). It's also extremely close to a "battle break" (CF equivilant) which I've seen (and continue to seee)...

    Air Weapons Controllers?

Hey Rob! Was wondering who "Air4ce" was  :) Message must have gone out, been getting loads of calls and e-mails, but I think those things are primarily off Wing messages. We were sad to lose Hozer, she was a breath of fresh air for sure. and thanks, I'll be around. Cheers-Garry

    Air Weapons Controllers?

Judy, Re: dark side. As it happens, in another 12 hours I'll be neither. After 28 years, I'm retiring- this is my last shift. May see you at the mess anyways- I'll be the old fat bald guy in the corner. Cheers-Garry

    Air Weapons Controllers?

Actually Judy I wasn't scolding a "Jr O", I was ribbing a fellow AEC. The "ribbing" will get worse when you get on Squadron, and much worse if you ever make it to the Mess. ...particularly if you see me there :) Cheers-Garry.
