CF Hair Regulations - superthread [MERGED]

As it stands currently, ponytails are not permitted (except on ship I believe), however there are certain times that you'd be able to get away with it, like under a flying helmet.

    Capt (retd) J. Ross McKenzie

When I applied to RMC I remember my references specifically addressing their letters to him and having him come to my swearing in to congratulate me.  I met with him several times while at the college and learned some interesting facts on Billy Bishop as well when writing a paper about him. Capt...

    Hyena Road

Mentioned it before but worth bringing up again - I have a friend who was ANA and has now settled in Canada. He said the movie represented some of the issues of the country quite well with the double dealing and such.  He liked the movie, romantic storyline aside.

    Flying Air Canada with pets

I don't think they'd pen strange dogs together. Imagine a purebred, unaltered bitch being penned with an unaltered mutt! Lawsuit waiting to happen. As to the rest, I couldn't answer that. However have you already booked the flight for the dog? I was under the impression that there was usually a...

Report: Facts About Migrants Don't Always Match What The Headlines Say

Talk about using a quote out of context.  To provide context here is the full phrase: As to the voracity of the study: And to further back up where the data came from: What you just did was called "Confirmation bias." As in, just because there was a nugget of info that came from the UN...

George Bush, 41st President - Comparisons and other discussion...

To be fair, and because I hate when an error is permitted to propagate to such a point that people believe it's a truth, that money was promised several months ago.  The reason for the tweet is a conversation for another thread. WRT the funeral ceremony, it's nice to have people of prominence...

    Is this Stolen Valour

 I think it may be a play on words, especially if any of them have come close to pulling the handles at any point in time. Edited to add: And "Falcon" in French, especially over the radio, could easily be mistaken for another word, which makes me think there's an inside joke going on...

Wall Street Rule for the #MeToo Era: Avoid Women at All Cost

I think in today's environment, you should always have a third person present - male or female - no matter who you are dealing with. False accusations aren't limited to inappropriate sexual conduct.

    The US Presidency 2018

Now, in the media's defence, that may have been what they were told - the rain is too bad for the helicopter to fly in.  Was that the case? Not exactly. But do you think that the media would have understood Loach's explanation, even in Coles Notes version? Many times I have done the same thing...

    Walts, posers & wannabes (merged)

That's my worry - that it will somehow give the cadet org a bad name, especially given some of the activities they were doing that cadets did away with some time ago.

    Walts, posers & wannabes (merged)

This one's a rough one and shows how actions like this can affect so many people.  Apparently this guy helps to run an after-school program that is modelled after cadets, but is independent of them.  The kids wear multi-cam and even have a dress uniform, performing at parades and doing...

Airmobile Exercise CFB Kingston 19 Oct

Glad you enjoyed the show! I was picking out pieces of gravel from my hair all evening from the wash of the Chinook. It's not often the HQ gets to play like that and I think everyone had a good time acting like curious lookie-loos and villagers.

FREE Judo, Wrestling, and BJJ for all CAF members @ 3 CDSB EDMONTON

Considering the Brigade hosts a combatives tournament each year it would seem silly not to allow them to participate. An I know the Strats have a pretty involved combatives program.  Why the hesitancy to allow people to participate?  It's not like combat sports aren't part of the CAF - Taekwondo...

Kavanaugh - Is corroboration for sexual assault required?

She didn't refuse (obviously) but asked if there was any way the interviews could have been conducted at her home so she could "avoid" flying. That's quite a big distinction - refusing vs avoiding.

Kavanaugh - Is corroboration for sexual assault required?

That looks at the whole situation pretty simplistically, ignoring the power play that usually drives an assault.  I mean, you may as well just tell people to stop assaulting others and then everything will be alright.

Kavanaugh - Is corroboration for sexual assault required?

Maybe she takes meds when she flies? I'm scared of heights, but I flew helicopters for a number of years, sometimes with the doors off. Fear is an irrational thing and makes no sense to those people who don't share it.

CAF Cannabis Use 2018- DAOD 9004-1

My husband's a trucker and if he were to get caught with cannabis in his system it would be grounds for dismissal. 28 days is supposed to be the time it takes for it to leave your system completely.  I can only see the excessive timeline for those trades being because of how the drug is...
