RMC has a lot of traditions such as FYOP that simply do not exist at CMR. Unfortunately, most of the traditions that existed at CMR do not exist anymore as they were lost when the college was shut down in the 90's. Some little things have slowly been creeping their way back and some new things...
I don't personally know anyone who volunteers with a reserve unit but I have heard that it is possible. The reserve unit and your Squadron Commander (or perhaps higher) would have to agree to it, of course.
Personally, I would forget about it in first year. Especially if your in engineering.
My buddy back home asked and was told no unless it was requirement imposed by the school (I believe).
That would be a good rule to follow, however, RMC gives us a 50$ staples card at the beginning of the year and then says go get your supplies for the year.
Some of you may be interested in this link if your wondering about the 2 week orientation program. http://www.cmrsj-rmcsj.forces.gc.ca/deo-ocd/na-nc/na-nc-eng.asp It doesn't say much, but at least it gives you possible dates.
I can't give you an answer but http://www.cmrsj-rmcsj.forces.gc.ca/dep-adc/adm/admissio-eng.asp is probably a good place to start looking for one. A recruiter is always the best person to ask for anything related to admission into the CF/ROTP.
1. I'm going to St.Jean for a year, and supposedly it starts in the summer. It started August 3rd last year.
2. But who is going to pick the courses? They do. The courses you take will depend on whether your in arts or sciences/engineering.
3. Anyone know what it's gonna be like in the prep...
I totally agree. I was just stating that if you are going to be in Saint-Jean for prep year, then your going to be here for 1st year as well. I know of some people who were surprised to here this so I wanted to help avoid any future surprises people may encounter.
If anybody would like me to...
I was just informed that 59 anglophone (no problem with franco's) current first years (Kingston and St-Jean) and prep years will not be able to go on course this summer for our BMOQ due to a lack of instructors/room. Therefore, I wouldn't hold your breath on getting to do basic this summer even...
I'm going to echo what ScottS said. I just got back from ACS last night after the medicals in Toronto and we were all given the option of writing the ACSO exam. Like was said before, the computer based testing will not be implemented for another few years according to the staff at ACS.
A new...
Last year you did not have to have completed aircrew selection in order to be considered for pilot/air operations. Those who haven't completed aircrew are going sometime throughout the school year.
Me three. Loved that book.
One of my professors here at CMR told us that his goal "is to teach us how to read and write properly". We were confused at first, but we learned very quickly what he meant after he gave us back our first synthesis.
