Voluntary Release (VR) from Reserve - anytime [Merged]

For a generation of individuals who have never "failed" , and that everyone get's to contribute in their own "special" way.......it is staggeringly difficult. I am faced with hiring many of these folks every year..... :brickwall:

Voluntary Release (VR) from Reserve - anytime [Merged]

Great post. Sadly the health stats don't agree. http://www.cdc.gov/healthyyouth/obesity/facts.htm http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/82-229-x/2009001/status/dia-eng.htm You can't get behind the "theory"....well it's actually a theorem which is being proven by the stats and examples. Gym is no...

Voluntary Release (VR) from Reserve - anytime [Merged]

Excellent point Crantor. Unfortunately the "Playstation Generation" is by far in poor shape, even in the late teens and early 20s compared to 15-20 years ago. The failure of the school system to prioritize gym, and fitness activities is now coming home to roost. Type 2 diabetes is more...

Voluntary Release (VR) from Reserve - anytime [Merged]

Which part of extensive experience and collective wisdom did you miss in TtG's post. You're not dealing with relatively new folks on here. You are dealing with some individuals who have seen literally 100s of troops perform, or under perform in those circumstances. You are posting in the...

Voluntary Release (VR) from Reserve - anytime [Merged]

Depends. When I went in in 1994, it was done at the YMCA in Hamilton, a few blocks away from CFRC Hamilton. When I went back in in 2009, I did the fit test right in the CFRC in Barrie ON. Agreed, it adds a ton of front end bottleneck, but if you weigh out the costs of having a candidate in...

Voluntary Release (VR) from Reserve - anytime [Merged]

Crantor, they already do. The CFRC puts candidates for PRes through fitness testing at their locations as a part of the enrollment process. It would be a simple matter of expanding those test days / number of slots being tested. I couldn't for the life of me understand that while applying to...

Hunting advice for an interested party

With respect. You'll need the hunters safety course. Your RPAL will be nice to have as long as you understand that only non-restricted weapons can be used to hunt with. As far as deer hunting goes, unless you're hunting with a bow, you have missed the bus with respect to this year. This will...

Should i even bother applying to the C.F?

So you're drug free for 24 plus months? You're not medicated for any existing known condition? Go into a CFRC and start the conversation. Also speak with your physician and determine if you would be considered as having any existing condition that would preclude you from being employed. Past...

    The Best and Worst Charities!

I always support the salvation Army, and Sick Kids hospital. Never rule out local as well. Food Banks, and local service clubs like the Lions Club do work exclusively in their own communities, and almost 100% of all monies raised go back into the community.

What Happens if you miss the call for employment?

You know there's nothing wrong with calling the CFRC and following up either.......

Owning an Automatic Rifle in Canada?

No. Period, full stop. You can not own a fully automatic firearm in this Country. They have been designated as "prohibited" An AR type rifle, is not by definition full auto. There are many variants out there which are designed and sold in semi-auto, which due to their appearance, and other...

    Milnet.ca Rod and Gun Club

Due to the mass purchasing in the US, there are lots of things that are in short supply up here. Try finding a decent rifle in .223, or .308 ( 5.56 and 7.62 respectively)......most places dont have any, and they're indicating a wait of 3-6 months while the manufacturers catch up to demand.

Traveling to Cuba, any precautions needed?

Folks, 1.The question was from a Class A reservist. Unless things have changed in a year, he doesn't need to do anything other than let his CoC know that he's travelling. Same case when I went. 2. Roxie, not sure where you're getting your info from. I was there a year ago, and had my...

Traveling to Cuba, any precautions needed?

No. But you should notify your CoC of your travel plans. I have gone on a few holidays there while serving, and no issues.

What's the dumbest thing you heard said today?

Evidently a paramedic and defibrillator standing at the hostess station.

What's the dumbest thing you heard said today?

THAT is too funny. "Cynical people might think this is funny,"   ...no....people with a sense of humour and irony will definitely think it's funny.
