    Hero pix (merged)

Understood. Perhaps a spare flag and blank nametape wouldn't go amiss. Although I suppose the general public probably doesn't notice the empty velcro.

    Hero pix (merged)

We all know what they are for, the photographer knows what they are for...its potentially an important part of the press should the unthinkable happen. Why are pictures being released with soldiers lacking nametapes and shoulder flags? You'd think somebody would pick up on this and correct the...

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

Jamie, If you do decide to join your only logical option would be as a doc. It just makes sense, both financially and time wise. It can be a very rewarding job both as an MD and an orthopod, especially considering the work we are doing right now. You can make time for flying as a hobby.

How to get family on board

Just because you moved out at 18 doesn't make it right or the only thing to do. Different families, different times. There's nothing wrong with an 18 year old living at home. If anything, its probably the most financially responsible thing to do in today's market. Stop with the grief...

    URINE Questions

Maybe in the past but I can assure you that no doctor in today's health care system is going to put your urine, or any other bodily fluid into his or her mouth. Its quicker and more accurate to use the dipsticks. Apparently (according to Science World) alligator dung used to be used as an...

Hearing (Merged) Including Hearing Tests and Hearing Categories

Correct me if I'm wrong... doesn't PMed come in annually to check the audiogram machine to ensure its accuracy? All the machines that I have seen look about 20 years old, I'm sure they require service/zeroing at regular intervals.

    The Blood Pressure Superthread

Dangerboy has the right advice. Speak to your doc at the MIR. One high blood pressure doesn't mean much. Stress, illness, previous exercise can all affect your BP. The concern comes from trends. In my experience the MIR will ask for 3 or 4 days worth of consecutive BPs (same time of day) to...

Are there any good documentaries on our army?

The Fifth Estate had a special "Life and Death in Kandahar" about the Role 3 Hospital last year...it was pretty good. Apparently there is a documentary in postpreduction now called "At War" about Afghanistan with footage from 1PPCLI. There was recently a news piece on it (CBC maybe?) where it...

    Naden Dental

Is anybody able to give a street address or directions to the Naden Dental Clinic (apparently in the hospital?) Got an appointment and realize I've got no idea where the place is. Cheers.

    Blood / urine work question?

The answer is no and no...although apparently some bulking up supplements can cause your urine to contain proteins...which is tested for. See how simple that was? Jeez, you'd think the guy asked about top secret documents.

All things LASIK surgery (aircrew/other -- merged)

I spoke with Dr. Lin in Vancouver about the flap dislodgement issue as I've been thinking about surgery for a while. He stated that during his practice (and he is one of the pioneers of Laser eye surgery in North America so its a long practice) he has never actually seen a flap dislodge. He has...

    Few questions!

I agree that its a valid question but there must be someway of sorting this out besides telling the op he's SOL. Poop happens...I don't have a landline and I'd probably be up the creek for a little while if I broke my phone too. Couple suggestions...don't know how well they'd go over but... 1...

    CANFORGEN 97/08 LDA FAQs

Possibly a silly question but... If one is posted to a unit that is a detachment of a field unit...does that count as being posted to a field unit? Just curious is all.
