    Toronto Mayor Rob Ford

Actually if you look at the maps you posted the area that Ford won in is generally in the areas of the lower voter turnout. If you look to see where Ont PC support is you will find it is in the rural areas in southern Ontario from Windsor to Ottawa. This area basically misses the Toronto area...

    Toronto Mayor Rob Ford

Doug Ford after losing his bid for Toronto's mayor is now considering running for the Ontario P.C. leadership. ::) http://www.am980.ca/2014/10/29/doug-ford-considers-run-for-ontario-pc-leadership/

Untrained BMQ Candidate Alleges Abuse by Directing Staff Sergeant

George I suspect the "drill sergeant" from the original story was phrase the reporter added on his own. That being said I have known some Sgt's who later became MCpl's. Some after remusters and other for reasons that lead to charges.

CBC is now reporting all Canadian bases closed to all civilians. Any confirmation here?

Untrained BMQ Candidate Alleges Abuse by Directing Staff Sergeant

Another option I don't see working in Canada. The problem with this program is that the potential recruit has to report to a central area (recruiting center?) weekly or monthly for physical training & mentoring. May work for some who live near the recruiting center but not practical for those...

Untrained BMQ Candidate Alleges Abuse by Directing Staff Sergeant

No we don't and I don't ever see it happening. I watched the video. It was basically a physical fitness assessment. Each unit running their own assessments due to the vast size of the country would either limit those who could attend or would depend on those who could afford to attend. I can't...

Untrained BMQ Candidate Alleges Abuse by Directing Staff Sergeant

Agreed it is a large target group but to set up any system that would put up barriers to bring in new members from out side this group could be very well counterproductive. Any married person would be less likely to apply. Also anyone that is a older with responsibilities may not apply. And many...

Untrained BMQ Candidate Alleges Abuse by Directing Staff Sergeant

So George your suggesting we give preference for recruiting those people who are only "Young High School graduates". First off it wouldn't meet any legal challenge and secondly would limit the Forces from many potential great recruits. BTW: When I joined I was a recent High School graduate. Not...

Untrained BMQ Candidate Alleges Abuse by Directing Staff Sergeant

As a further statement when I joined it was $500 a month before deductions. I was making $650 a month in a lower level factory type job. Not uncommon in my area. I and many made sacrifices to join. On top of that some are asking someone in an equivalent position to pay up front to qualify for a...

But do the forces want the best or only those who can afford to be the best?

Untrained BMQ Candidate Alleges Abuse by Directing Staff Sergeant

I've stayed out of this thread until now. And what would happen if those applying had to pay for fitness/medical testing? Our past history has shown that quite a few recruits come out of area's which have the poorer economies within our country. When I joined I wouldn't be surprised if over 50%...

What does that link have to do with removing someones OMM? That link only applies to the Order of Canada.

Ordered to work on days off?

My guess DAA is that you are regular force. And this is where the biggest problems in concepts occurs between regular and reserve force members. 2-5 days notice for a regular force member can generally be accommodated fairly easily. For a reserve force member this can easily be next to...

Ordered to work on days off?

This problem of assigning projects during off hours in the reserves is a long way from new. When it got worse for me is when regular force members are in positions in a reserve unit. They are use to the 24/7 routine some and figure nothing is wrong assigning projects during off hours. When I was...

1 RCR and CFB London Reunion.

It was an excellent turnout and a great time. Seen a few old friends I have not seen over 30 years. A great many more that I've not seen in 5 to 25 years. If anyone has a chance to go to a reunion of old friends take it. Too many have already passed on.

Actually Blondie's (Scabby Abby's) is still there with new name (Royal Lanchaster at the Airport hotel) but has had licensing problems and I believe is no longer operating as a strip joint. Flesh Gordons is another place altogether. Before Flesh Gordons it went by the name El Grecco. A little...

Female Admirals and Generals in the Canadian Forces

John welcome to the site. I believe your intentions are as you stated. If your first post included some of the information that your last one did I would not have questioned it. A first post asking for information on someone without an explanation raises red flags. In the past we have on...
