Thanks Blackadder1916, for doing that research. It puts it in its proper context.
Interesting (and welcome) that an exception is spelled out for the Peace Tower flag.

Actually, I haven't stated my opinion on the subject. Please don't assume you know what it is.
I am only pointing out reiterating what George Wallace has already said that putting flags at half-mast for a former Premier of Quebec is the existing regulation.

Edit: Giving George...
Regardless of anyone's personal opinion, M.Parizeau represented the democratic will of the Canadian citizens residing in the Province of Quebec at the time. The lowering of the flag is consistent with the office held.

It can be done, but there is significant administrative effort to use non-DND land for training, including the not inconsiderable requirement to put everything back to its former state at the end of it all. Depending on region, the lead times can be quite lengthy to do proper notification for...
Iran is already taking a very active role in the fight, and has been since December.

Are we sure that everyone in Ottawa is allowed to wear NCDs/CADPAT/Flight Suits? My understanding was that one had to wear DEUs within NDHQ, but the operational clothing was allowed at CJOC (as the Operational HQ)? Certainly all of the folks I have met at 101 Colonel By were in DEU's.

I agree that would be a better comparison, but I don't have those figures handy. I suspect, though, that the Fighter Force Squadrons would still be at or near the top in Establishment per LCol (for Air Force units at least).

I know that 400 and 438 Sqns are both reserve sqns without the same aircraft strength as the other three, but they are still led by LCol's, no? And I didn't forget 450 Sqn - it is a Tac Avn unit like the others, and while I agree that their aircraft are not "spreadable", the point is that the...
I believe RCAF Station Casey was a dispersal Forward Operating Location (FOL) for our fighters during the Cold War as well. I believe in the 1990's a drug-runner was forced down there by a CF-18.
As an aside, if anyone wants to explore a similar FOL that is much easier to access than Casey...
There certainly is "an actual unit", so the threat is considered to be possible.
However, I wouldn't say that the "CAF" is able to "operate" in a CBRN environment, (other than the "unit" mentioned). For the rest, it is mostly about surviving an event, not operating in that environment. Two...
I would suggest the Cold War happened well prior to the Marshall Plan and the Soviet bomb. Once the Allies realized that Germany was on the run and would eventually be defeated, they were all looking ahead to the post-war situation. If I had to pick a specific event, I would vote for the Yalta...
For what its worth, it seems to me the new RCAF leather jacket has improved the "brand" in the public eye at least. For all its shortcomings, the public has been led to expect (yes, by Top Gun and the like) that pilots (who apparently are 100% of the RCAF) to be in a leather jacket. I am not...
To be fair to the Fighter Force, their aircraft to Unit ratio is higher than other arms of the Air Force, (with Sqns defined as LCol-led Units - I am not counting the CSS Sqns just to keep the numbers relative):
Fighters - 77 a/c - 3 Sqns (409, 410, 425) = 25.7 per Sqn
Tac Avn - 72 a/c - 7 Sqns...
