    SQ????

It's the second course (after BMQ) that I THOUGHT everybody in the CF (Army at least) had to take.

    West Novies Out there ?

Sgt. Aston is the 2/i/c on my BMQ course right now. Great instructor.

    "Sergeant Major" and CWO Appointments

The TSM I was referring to is Troop Sergeant Major, in the artilllery. I'm nearly done BMQ, we've had the rank structure lecture.

Physical stuff on the first day of BMQ

It is my understanding that you're not supposed to run in combat boots (for training purposes, obviously operational is a different story.) That's what we were told on my BMQ. If you can do 30 push-ups and do regular cardio, you would do fine on BMQ if it is anything like mine. Which it may not be.

    "Sergeant Major" and CWO Appointments

I've (obviously) not been in very long, just over 3 months actually. I'm currently on BMQ. Anyway, I was wondering what exactly the appointment of TSM, BSM, RSM etc. entails, and why CWO's always seem to be RSM's. Basically I'd like to know what Sergeant Major means.

    Combined MESSES

I agree, in most cases I (being a Pte) would generally want to spend time with my buddies, seperate from the Officers. However, at times a combined mess is appropriate, such as in my unit. Between Jr Ranks, WO's, Sergeants, and Officers we have about 15-20 who attend the mess regularly.

    Paying Compliments (Saluting, Verbal Address)

While on this topic, I have a similar question. My question is regarding proper protocol when an NCM crosses paths with an officer in regular civilian life. I thought about this because when I went to get a haricut today, the barber informed me that a Major from my unit had been in just a few...

Role of Officer vs job of NCM [Merged]

Ah, I must have misunderstood the question. Although, I'm not sure if you're suggesting they applied to be officers, because that is not the case.

Role of Officer vs job of NCM [Merged]

Hi, this is certainly true. On my BMQ course of 27, there are 2 Officer Cadets and one 2nd Lieutenant. These 3 were given these ranks immediately upon joining, solely based on their University degrees. The 2nd Lieutenant was given that rank because he had 2 degrees, one which was...

    Question about Military Quotes

I've found you can search a generic term like "army" in the "search quotes" field, and turn up a whole bunch of results.

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly does "a c's a p" mean?

One man's odyssey through the part-time BMQ experience.

Hmm..wonder why and who changed the thread title.. not that I care too much  :)

One man's odyssey through the part-time BMQ experience.

Hmm, I enjoyed it quite thoroughly. A good challenge. Especially trying not to laugh with your face into your pillow while marking time. Or laying on a 45 degree angle after doing a right incline, then saluting to the left. Then we had 15 minutes to make our beds again and have our C7's...

One man's odyssey through the part-time BMQ experience.

After just getting back from 3 days of BMQ, I had my first experience of this. It was certainly interesting. Particularly executing an About Turn, then marking time. Has anybody else done this, and have stories to share?

    Top Candidate

Hi, I'm on BMQ right now (well, on weekends) and have heard that at the graduation someone is awarded as "top candidate". I was wondering what the course staff would look for when deciding on which candidate to choose. (the criteria for top candidate) Thanks for any info!

    New member

Hi, I am both a new member of this forum, and a new member of the CF. I was sworn in on Nov. 9th. I'm on Basic now and have completed 2 weekends. So far, I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I just discovered this website and it looks like a great resource with loads of information. See you around...
